I had to cut down a tree between my houses and it cost a fortune... anyone know any good tree guys that are licensed and insured?
I have one more of roughly the same size to take down.
Needed a massive crane to reach over the house to remove it (septic tanks in the back yards, so they had to do it over the top of the house).
The cut it down, removed the entire thing (chipped what they could and took the pile pictured below on a semi).
Was quoted over 4k, but they gave me a discount for cash, only 3800.

If anyone knows a reputable service that can handle a job like this for a better price, let me know and i may call them.

Before- put an 8 foot fence panel up behind it for scale

Parked my truck next to the remains for scale- full size crew cab, and it looks like a toy compared to the size of the trunk

Ah, there they are. That's a big ass tree. Sometimes I wonder why people plant massive trees certain places. Like somebody thought it was a good idea to plant that tree 5 feet from the house. Just an awful idea. Sorry, I can't help you out with tree removal companies. I have two trees in my yard and they were just planted 1 year ago lol. About 10 ft. tall.

10' from the corner of the house, right on the property line, not good.

It's a process, get JULIE marks down, away from house and fences, then positioned between decks/patios for privacy, and shade. Don't just throw Jarts, or I guess it's bags now.

Back on topic, I know of no one that can help you, good luck.

Aren't there log services that will do it?

They keep the tree to make lumber and you get a discount/pay nothing for tree removal. Seems like a missed opportunity.

That is one huge tree. Is it me, or does the house look like it's tilted in the first pick?

Sorry though, can't help with a tree service. I'm in a townhouse here.

russian poplar is too soft to make a good material... but one of my neighbors did take the remains of a really big spruce in the front yard to plane down in to lumber.
They had to chop that one down to get a good angle with the crane.

That's some big wood buddy!
Nice truck by the way...

I do like the truck, thank you.- just got it in january to replace the one I was driving when I got hit head on.

Was never a huge dodge fan before, but they make nice powerful trucks at a good price. I have definitely come around on them.

I do- but I am gonna blame the patchy grass on the tree (and lack of maintenance).

I did throw down some seed... now I have some nice vulnerable little grass poking up... hope it makes it for the next few weeks and takes hold.

That was going to be my second comment, might as well wait until the tree is gone before doing any work. It's just going to get trampled over.

The tree is gone- that is the one that was taken out... the other is on the other corner.

I am lawn-challenged though. the front yards of both these houses look decent, but the back yards are awful- that pic is of the worst area where there is never any sun, but the rest isnt much better.
