Seems like the Bears moderator group is in the process of defining roles. Oober has barely been around, Jamais has stated he doesn't believe in being heavy-handed, FT is the most vocal in addressing community inquiries. Makes for an interesting committee if they act independently with such differences in approach....

I may be the most forward facing/active(?) but we talk through most everything. If someone is banned/warned etc we are all in the loop as to the details of it. We are working in concert. It's not three different styles.

Just to touch on a few things:
-Village of the banned will not be coming back nor will a corrective action thread. That's silly.
-Rush explained the Grimson ban in here.

1. I think bringing back VOTB (the thread not the forum) would be a wise idea. Before Rush unbanned everyone the main problem was one or two staff members banning whoever they pleased for whatever reason without having to justify their actions. It seems voting on it partially helps eliminate that from reoccurring but I think having a thread where it's explained why someone is being punished further helps. For example I didn't see what Grimson or Aaronitout did to warrant a ban so I have to assume they didn't do anything wrong but if an explanation is provided and it proves the banning was justified I would have a change of opinion and be commending our world class moderators on a job well done.

B. Where did @Rush provide an explanation?

III) Are staff votes majority rule or must they be unanimous?

Thanks

FWIW, that statement was more for the community to get clarification. If you guys need a "mod/community relations" guy, i'm your guy. :)

Honestly think that is a mistake. Transparency needs to be there. JMHO

It's not coming back. If you have a question, PM a mod. Or ask me randomly like you are here.

Thanks. There are a lot of posters that don't even know who "oober" is and I could help with that.

I will back this up because even if we brought back the VOTB thread...98% of the posters would not check it and just ask one of us in a random thread...so why bother with the extra work.

The current process we are trying also does not really ban the poster anyhow. You want to know why Grimson is not posting in the Bear forum...go to The Bar forum and ask him yourself.

When VOTB was first put into place it was nice because we were seeing a lot of veteran posters getting bans for various lengths of time...so it was cool to be able to hop in that thread to see what had happened. Not calling out the old moderators but it was almost necessary as sometimes it did not seem like there was any rhyme or reason to the bannings. With this new group (at least the two I know in the Bears Forum) it feels more like you have to be over the top to get a ban and they are more willing to discuss in an open setting about it than brush off why the ban was put into place.

Pretty much. VOTB threads are forums are always a shit show and not needed. The guidelines are pretty clear. Our goal is to never ban or remove anyone. I'd rather shoot the shit about football.

Also to hop onto your 98%..98% of the people who get banned this site wouldn't care about anyways so it just turns into a pissing match about people complaining about a buddy of theirs getting the hammer.

Thanks for explaining the reasoning.

Pretty much. I'll always be transparent and honest in here and via PM. Good or bad. The goal here is to never ban anyone, that being said we also have to abide by the guidelines we set and no one is exempt. These sports forum are public facing so we want to keep them clean.
