If the Bears hit 2-9, even while being competitive it will be hard to muster the same effort.

Losing adds up, kills momentum, and can snow ball pretty quickly.

I know fox has had these guys ready to play, but it will get tougher the more they lose and the further they are eliminated. If the Bears lose 6 straight and hit 2-9 I could see it being much harder to get up and compete at the level they have.

Hard to compete hard with no reward.

I'm hoping for a complete shoot out. I've got Alshon going in two fantasy leagues and need a big game from him.

BTW, I do realize that there is some irony here because I was one of the people that didn't think Jeffery would pan out, but ended up drafting him in almost every fantasy league I could.

Agreed.

But this game could be a big factor in whether they are 3-13 or 6-10

I'm unsure what is worse. 6-10 suggests there's hope within the roster and sort of implies less change (or more hope what's already here). 3-13 is time for a clean slate and less of the old regime remains.

Actually I think the difference between 6-10 and 3-13 is..... Cutler. If they win 6 games then sure, keep Cutler. He's still the best option and you can put pieces around him. If they only win 3 then he's not the guy and you can move on knowing a Cutler managed team has a floor of 3 games.

In saying that I realize posters will go to whichever side of the Cutler debate they are already on, but there is some truth behind it.

at 2-9 the season is done, its just a matter of which of the top picks you are going to get.

I pinned us at 6-10 at the start of the season and I still think we got 4 wins in us. even if we lose this game. We will need to pull a shocker against a better team to get it done but that can happen.

There never was a turning point for this season, most of us realized it was stillborn. This team is well-coached and plays hard, but we suck balls across the board in terms of starting personnel + depth. All I wanted this season was some player development and hope or promise of a young core.

We have checked the box on coaching, although Fox is a clear upgrade he isn't any form or type of SB panacea.

The only realistic turning point is the next couple drafts and FA periods.

I agree this season was a non starter. I am not talking about a playoff push or anything like this, but this game could have a big impact on how ugly this season gets.

Which could have a big impact on the draft, Cutler, assistant coaches etc.

Hard to get up to play at 2-9. Hard to coach your guys to get up at 2-9, just human nature.

For some reason I have the feeling that the Bears will put together a solid win tonight. Kind of anxious to see what our RB's can do, and if they have success and the Bears can control the clock I think they should put the Chargers away handily. Handily I say.

If 6-10 is this teams peak than I would rather have a 3-13 record with the higher picks. 6-10 is bad enough to not be a contender in a weak division & just good enough to **** up a good pick. I'd rather see all of the young kids the Bears do have starting at every viable position & Kyle Long moved to Left Tackle now to see what the Bears may of may not have for next season, if 6-10 is what this franchise is fighting to achieve.

I worry that tonight might be the start of an avalanche.

Why would this worry you? This was a very distinct possibility from the get go. You should expect this could possibly happen.
