This latest Arrested Development talk had better not be a joke, still it involves Netflix so...

Well like everything else Netflix seems to do these days, this will officially kill the series. Too bad that Showtime didn't get it. If he was smart he would have taken less money to put them on a network that knows what the **** their doing.

What makes you think that Netflix will kill the series? More than likely they'll be bringing back the same producers and writers so it shouldn't change the show.

I think this will actually increase Netflix subscribers when it launches. Good move by them.

It's going to die. How many sucessful series does Netflix run? And how many of their customers are happy with them right now? Their profits have plummeted and so has their membership. It's a good move by netflix to try to do something, bad move for the series as it's going to die again.

Going to die again? It's only meant to be about 12 or 13 show season followed by a movie and the series is officially done. There won't be anything after that. Yes, Netflix lost a lot of members, but they still have a shitload left. I think this is a wise move on their part. They've been trying to land an original series and this is about as good as you can get. A series that already has a loyal following. There's plenty of subscribers left on Netflix and with the fan base of Arrested Development they'll bring in even more with this move.

So let me get this straight... You think that it's better for the series to be on Netflix, than showtime... ummm ok.

I didn't say it was better. I'm saying it's not a bad move for either Netflix or the show.

Actually, Netflix still has more subscribers than Showtime, even after losing 800k-1 million subscribers. So it will reach a larger audience. I do agree Showtime and HBO both have much more experience putting shows together, but I'm pretty sure Netflix isn't going to half ass it.

What budget exactly does Nextflix have to produce shows? They may not try to half ass it all they want, but They can't touch what a real network can do with the show. They don't have the infrastructure in place. I didn't say it was a bad move for nextflix, again they are trying, but it's a bad move for the show. It's like they are going to LMN or Tru network. They can have the best intentions, but they don't have any good experience to back them up. And they don't have the luxury of just dumping a shit ton of money on this in hopes that it works. Especially since it's only a season.

Netflix still has plenty of money to work with. They'll be hiring a top notch production company to produce the show. They've been working on acquiring something like this for quite awhile. I'm pretty sure they'll be fine. It's not like it's a difficult show to produce with a ton of special effects......Now if they tried to do something like Firefly, well that would be a different story.

We'll see, and you're right, it's a very simple show, but my money is on Netflix screwing this up. I hope they don't let them. Where is all this money they have to work with? They're value is plummeting and they sink most of their money into streaming agreements? Who are they hiring for the production company? Does AD have their own I hope? I wonder where they are going to shoot it, I guess they'll have to make a deal with some studio or something, maybe one they already have a deal with. In March Netflix was at a high of almost 300, and now they are fighting to get back to 80. I hope this helps as I've been with them for 11.5 years, but they are in such a severe holding pattern right now that I hope they even get to start production.

Can't answer all your questions but I found out it's being produced by Twentieth Century Fox Television and Imagine Television. Ron Howard is one of the founders of Imagine Television and he was an executive producer on the original run so I'm sure he'll be on this one as well.

He has to damn it, he's one of the best parts of the show, I love his narration!

Mass, I have to agree with Phranchk - Netflix has to realize the responsibility they have to re-create the show as good as (or better) than it was before. Besides, wasn't Ron Howard a producer? I doubt he'd let something with his name on it suffer like that...

We shall see, but don't hold your breath. Go ask people how many of them have heard of House of Cards?

So are they supposed to waste advertising dollars on now when it's not supposed to be released for 10-12 more months?

You'll start hearing plenty more about it the closer it gets to release.

It's never too far out. It's why we get trailers for movies before they are even done. Why networks push shows that won't be out till next summer. It's never too early for buzz. Anyway, let's slightly adjust the topic. I love Fincher. I wonder how well he will adapt to TV. I haven't seen very much about house of cards but I'm a big fan of Spacey as well and like Fincher am very excited to see him transition to tv. (I don't know what else to call it at this point? Webisodes?) I like Robin Wright ok enough I guess. I'll have to know more about the show before I can complain about casting though, haha. Here is the IMDB page, pretty limited. http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1856010/

This brings me to something a little different as well, has anyone ever been a member of IMDB pro? With the information out there on the web, I for the life of me can't imagine what it would add but was curious to know if anyone does it? And if it's worth it.
