I agree that the season finale of Game of Thrones wasn't as good as the penultimate episode, partially because "Blackwater" was so focussed and nuanced and had some of the best writing on television ever, and kept us grounded in one location and thus, focussed, but it was mostly because there wasn't enough time given to all the story lines, so they felt somewhat rushed. I could have lingered a bit longer with Dani and Drogo (how I miss your brutal hotness, Drogo!) and at King's Landing it all felt a bit like, what? Sansa, you're out, Tyrion, you're out, no need to dwell on these important details because we have to give everyone five minutes of time! I think 10 episodes isn't enough for the scope of the show, but I guess that's all HBO gives them, which is too bad. Even a 12 episode season would be better. True Blood gets 12 episodes, The Wire got 12 episodes. It's the least they could do.
I still thought it was a fantastic episode and will miss these characters until next spring. And I stand by my choice to not read the books, so keep up the pact here: no book spoilers in this thread.
