Crap, this was somehow not reported to me earlier via my Doctor Who links on FB. Mary Tamm, the sexiest companion ever (a.k.a., Romana I), died last month. **** cancer!

BREAKING BAD! This last episode was fantastic. And Todd (a.k.a. Landry from Friday Night Lights another of the best shows ever) finally became a character with shit to do. So tense, so much at stake for these characters. the writing has been great this season, tight, emotionally relevant, not cloying or obvious. The Newsroom wishes it was this good.

So I have an LG blue ray player that also does downloadable content over a wireless connection (Netflix, Hulu, VUDU ect...). Just noticed NHL cancelled their agreement with LG. Don't know if it was just for this year and will reboot when the season starts or more of a permanent nature. Was planning to get the online center ice this season and watch through the LG device or on the PC. Not sure I will do that now. will have to check the NHL site for supported devices once we are closer to the season.

I started watching it this weekend. The bathtub scene is awesome.

The GF and I have been really getting into Sons of Anarchy... Katey Sagal is a ridiculously talented actress. It's rare for me to find a show where the characters are very dynamic and NOT 2-Dimensional.

Why do I feel like I've heard of it... what's it like.

On a side note, I always see the commercials for Lost Girl on sci fi when I am watching Alphas or Warehouse 13... but I can't stand them, and it looks horrible to me. I tried to watch it once and wanted to break my TV... can anyone dispute this?

I caught a couple of episodes of lost girl after being human. I can only watch so many shows about supernatural stuff. The quality just doesnt stand up to the other shows of the genre i've been into.

Basically the premise is this chick when she became an adult found out she was adopted and a succubus (she sucks peoples lifeforces out while doin the nasty) shes into chicks and dudes. Turns out there are supernatural creatures on the "light side" who protect humanity and "dark side" who corrupt kill and maim and what have you. But shes a rebel and chose not to join either side, because shes too cool for rules or something and yeah thats pretty much it.

With so many good shows on Netflix and Hulu, like Breaking Bad and Mad Men, I'm getting very close to finally pulling the trigger and dropping cable. I started watching both of those shows awhile ago and haven't been able to keep up with them. I haven't even made it to the second season of Breaking Bad.

DO IT! Speaking as someone who hasn't had cable/satellite TV in like 18 yrs. trust me after an initial "difficult" withdrawal period where it's just weird to not be able to turn on the TV and click away through 100+ channels you really do get over it all out of sight, out of mind pretty damn quick IMO. Terrestrial TV is sufficient combined with online content. . .but admittedly, TV just doesn't play a big role in my leisure time.

My only vice on Cable is hockey. I wish I lived outside the blackout area for the online subscription, + I wish there was an online HBO subscription.

I found out last year I do get most of the Hawks games online via Game Center. Also, not being able to see Game of Thrones and some other shows/documentaries will be tough.

This is where my full annual subscription to Hockeystreams.com helps! All NHL games archived and available for viewing on-demand for one year and they did something upgrades-wise before the start of this past season and what I thought was already pretty damn good quality became excellent! Also their online media viewer has DVR-like functions where you can watch playback while the actual game is still going live. Before this past season another bummer was that only half the games would be CSN's feed and the other half would be the opponent's but this year every CSN broadcast game was the "Hawks" feed and it was in HD loveliness. That's about the best $100 a person could spend to get all Hawks games, all other 29 teams games, SC playoffs, and World Juniors.

How long before Hockeystreams.com gets shut down? I can't imagine it's legal.

I think whenever I renew it will be my 4th year? In any event if one is concerned about them just going away one can do a monthly subscription. Or else 3 mos, 6 mos or the 1 yr but of course it's cheapest if you do the 1 yr. I have done on an as-needed month to month basis, quarterly, annual---all over the map. Eh, anything can happen of course but all they seem to be doing is improving their servers every year so I don't see them disappearing anytime soon.

yeah, that's basically what I thought... and it sounds horrible.

I do, I think Mass does but he bitches about it. I think Lauren does but not sure
When have I ever bitched about it? All I said was that I like the show but it's slowly getting worse. And all this fairy stuff is getting in the way of the good stuff. I also predicted that this would be the worst season yet, and I was right. You can also really tell where the demographic has gone on this season as they have showed more male nudity than all other seasons combined. Yeah, there are still boobs, but it's almost painful watching them try to work reasons in for LC, Jason, and Eric to take their shirts off. Lot's of interesting stuff going on, but Bill is just getting annoying, should be interesting to see how they get out of the paths they've gone down with some of the characters.

I finally finished watching season 2 of Louie last night. I missed two episodes, and caught up on Netflix. One was Come On, God, mostly about masturbation and a really hot Christian that Louie meets on a talk show. That episode was very funny.

The other one was just strange. It was about Halloween, and it was also about Louie meeting a Hollywood executive. That episode was just odd, mistimed, and all over the place. The subjects were cool, but both ended abruptly.

Louie's second season was just a period of hits and misses all over the place.
