If you review that month along with October 1986, this period in 2014 to date has been colder.
Halloween 1986 was 65 degrees...this year it snowed.

Don't think you get how it works... but ok. First phase of climate change is the destabilization of long term weather patterns.... ie, more extreme weather becomes much more common, whether it is in the warm or cold direction. Also more severe short term oscillations... like snowing one day and 65 the next. Or a february in the 50's and then snow in march. Along with an increase in catastrophic events. All of which is occurring. Especially in the midwest, weather has shown very bizarre patterns the last 3-4 years and very extreme oscillations.
So while mean global temperatures have increased, long term patterns have started to break down. So what people experience on the ground in their particular area (read: weather vs climate) is basically just fucked up weather all the time. Temps and precip aligning much less with the seasons than we are used to.
But feel free to be the guy that points and some snow and says, "SEE!"

Good tip. I'll try that next time, but this was a last minute trip that we decided to make, and apparently Christmas/New Years is the busiest time of the year for Hawaii travel, so I got raped on the airfare.

The alternative is 2011-12 I believe, the year w/no Winter and record breaking heat in Summer.
Give it time, eventually Europe and Asia will once again bear the brunt of 7 months of Winter and 5 months of....whatever.

kayak is a site that searches all the other travel sites for airfares or hotel bookings. And it monitors price fluctuations. You can set an alert for a specific airfare so that if there is ever a deal for a specific location, it will email you. And kayak covers all the international carriers too.
