Look

, I get you want to dunk on Dalton to shit on the Bears... I get it.

But sometimes things have a funny way of working out. Like Jimmy Graham last year.

Just saying, what else can we do but be patient and see?

Lowest career avg per
2nd or 3rd lowest total yards
2nd or 3rd lowest catches
Did have 8 td
10 mil?

Love bears fans standards for how it all worked out.....Dalton will be the same as we've had....

Mid pack qb is the upside
Lower third is likely
Bottom of the rung is in play

When ya gotta "sell" a Qb b4 he ever takes the field, that's a problem. That's like going on a blind date and being told in advance, "hey look.....she's got a great personality and she's really smart."

You wanna back that claim up?
Watch the Bears, watch the Bears opponent. Watch other teams. The only way other teams wind up fielding players worse than Charles Leno Jr. is due to injury.

If the unpopular opinion, going against a vast majority of fans, is that our QB will be just "fine" its a sad state of expectations.

But are we going back to his system? The offense only started to seem functional last year when Lazor started calling plays and went away from Nagy's west coast offense. With Montgomery as a workhorse and (presumably) an upgraded offensive line, we'd be crazy to try to go back to what wasn't working.

It didn't work because of Mitch and the line calls.

They are going back to the system.

I'm sure he'll be slightly better than Mitch and Foles were last season. But then the fanbase is going to see first hand that the problems on this Offense aren't easily solved by someone only slightly better than Mitch and Foles. And therein lies the rub.

No one thinks Dalton is the solution, including the Bears (1 year deal). What he can be is somebody good enough to prove that Nagy's system works, and they just need to find the QB that can run it perfectly.

I'm still trying to figure out....what the heck is " Nagy's system ". What We do know, is it can barely score 14 points a game.

The problem isn't Dalton as much as how many failed attempts Pace has taken to fix the QB situation. Millions for Glennon, trading up for Trubisky, millions and a pick for Foles and now millions for Dalton (in a cash strapped year no less). Fans aren't taking an irrational or subjective stance on the signing, but are unhappy based on a proven track record of poor QB decisions which this one falls in line with that history.

Dalton may be adequate, but we need more than adequate QB play for this team to be a winner.

By winner do you mean enough regular season wins to get the Bears into the playoffs? If that is the case Dalton is more than adequate as his history in Cincy shows. Put him on a team with good weapons a solid OL and good defense and it could be a fun season.

It's a 1-yr band-aid. Seattle and Houston weren't biting on any trade offers. Even if Seattle wanted to play ball what would it have cost the Bears? They would've had to lose multiple first rnd pick and likely multiple key pieces of the defense. So, if Wilson did come to Chicago he would've been on a much depleted team with little chance of building around him anytime soon. It's a tough situation that is in no way an easy fix.
Maybe we can do the right thing and focus on building a boarder-wall of an Oline before they bring in a blue chip QB to get killed.

The best way to protect your QB is to establish the run. Pound the rock with Montgomery, Cohen, and a draft pick. The Bears aren’t gonna get top 20 QB play with Dalton, Foles, or a rookie next year. Plan accordingly.

You mean his history of never winning a playoff game? Dalton might get us to the playoffs, but so did Trubisky. I guess I don't care if it's a fun season when the probable outcome is exiting the first round of the playoffs. I'd much rather have a long tern solution at the game's most important position. Pace has absolutely failed to find that solution.

The importance of Dalton for Nagy can't be understated. Dalton doesn't have to be perfect. He just has to be able to prove Nagy's system works, as long as you have the right guy running it...
They ain’t running Nagy’s system with Dalton.
