I've dispelled those bogus numbers numerous times. You can't log an "unreported" assault. Is there a special hotline people call to say "I was raped, but I'm not reporting it"?

That entire piece begs the question that every woman who claims assault was telling the truth, and the 2% is the "provably false" cases, where there is a hard alibli. Other cases where there wasn't sufficient evidence, or she decided not to pursue, are much, much higher.

http://www.nationalreview.com/corne...alse-stat-extremely-misleading-jason-richwine

But AGAIN, the fact that you believe that 90-98% of the accused are "rapists that walk free", means you're not 50/50 on whether or not Kane did it.

So do us a favor and stop pretending. If no charges are filed, you'll be the loudest voice here, carping that he skated.

You must be really Special person, or at least somewhere on the spectrum. I'll help you along here with comprehending that graph.

The graph is based on actual rapes. Not accused, but actual committed sexual assaults. So 98% of rapists walk free. That has absolutely NOTHING to do with Kane as we have no fucking facts on his case. We don't know if he's guilty or innocent. So you can't apply any of these statistics to the Kane case.

No, the reason I posted those numbers is because on a side discussion, you made the comments that false accusations are common, as well as saying "why wouldn't a victim report the crime", you know, the most ignorant comment to date in this thread.

NM, found it on everyone's favorite site, Sportsmockery.com:

While appearing on the Waddle and Silvy radio show today, ABC’s sports director and lead anchor, Mark Giangreco, said he has sources in Buffalo that are indicating the Patrick Kane case should be a ‘slam dunk’ for the District Attorney.

After listening to a sound bite from Pardon the Interruption where Tony Kornheiser insinuated the Blackhawks put out the Kane trade rumors today, Giangreco opened up to Waddle and Silvy about his feelings on the case. This is what he had to say.

“I’m just gonna say this, and be very careful the way I say this. No, seriously.

I spoke to a law enforcement person who said, rape allegations/sexual assault allegations are never a slam dunk, but from what he’s heard, this is AS CLOSE AS IT GETS.”

Wow.

Google "begging the question" (and "ad hominem" while you're at it). Unless that graph was the collaboratoin of data collected from 100 admitted rapists, it assumes all reported rapes are actual rapes. They're begging the question.

You're falling for it.

The graphs represent #s given out by our justice department on actual rapes.

It can be found on https://rainn.org/get-information/statistics/reporting-rates .

Christ, your reality on life is a fucking fantasy.

Where did they get the 68 unreported rapes from?

*knock, knock, knoclk*

"Can I help you?"

"Did you rape anyone in the last 12 months?"

"Yes"

"Was it reported to the police?"

"Not as far as I know"

"Thank you for your time"

You keep using that graph as evidence that graph is correct. I thought I told you to Google "begging the question"?

I haven't dug deep into the actual studies, but considering it's a well known fact that sexual assaults are under reported, I will go off what the justice department thinks. Why don't you provide your own numbers for the class instead of sitting in the back sniffing glue.

What is the National Crime Victimization Survey?

The Bureau of Justice Statistics' (BJS) National Crime Victimization Survey (NCVS) is the nation's primary source of information on criminal victimization. Each year, data are obtained from a nationally representative sample of about 90,000 households, comprising nearly 160,000 persons, on the frequency, characteristics, and consequences of criminal victimization in the United States. The survey enables BJS to estimate the likelihood of victimization by rape or sexual assault, robbery, aggravated or simple assault, theft, household burglary, and motor vehicle theft for the population as a whole as well as for segments of the population, such as women, the elderly, members of various racial or ethinic groups, city dwellers, and other groups. The NCVS provides the largest national forum for victims to describe the impact of crime and characteristics of violent offenders.

The lengths to which you're going to refute all of these statistics and anecdotes being thrown in your direction are astounding. It's been a while since I've seen someone so close-minded on a topic. You haven't just buried your head in the sand you've dove about 50 feet deep into the sand. One day, you should try and find your way out.

Wow.

If they'd actually operate like this all the time, then they wouldn't be so terrible. This is something actually worth sharing from them. But when they toss around ridiculous rumors with little to no verification if there anywhere near the truth, which is their usual schtick, they don't deserve the click.

I don't know the finer details of the case, obviously, but I'm not sure Giangreco's source knows what he's talking about, especially if it's a cop. Police always think they have a more solid case than the prosecutor realizes. The prosecutor is like the doctor of the family, and the cops are like the broke little brother who keeps trying to get people to sign up for pyramid schemes, with all due respect.

I'm not saying Kane won't eventually be charged, but if it were truly a slam dunk, there'd already be charges, with or without DNA. Sexual assault doesn't need as much evidence as you might think.

It's like he's Bizzaro-Variable. If there's a time rift tear somewhere and IB has a mustache, I think we have figured out things in the interim.

Hawk is worse.

Contribute or go away back to your sandbox and play with your Tonka trucks and let the adults talk.
If you're good you may get a juice box and a Kyle Calder coloring book.

Wino is correct. Trev would make a good moderator. He was for a bit when we had IHN.

Not sure how you can confirm this, unless you're in the legal field.
I'm working on a project for a defense attorney right now. I may field him some questions when I get a moment. Then again, he may have the same answer since none of us know anything.
