Pick as many as you choose:
-Fight the terrorist over there so we don't have to fight them here
-Kill Saddam to get back for him trying to kill daddy
-Oil
-Spread Democracy through the Middle East
-To start a bunch of no-bid contracts to further enrich Dick Cheney's company

Yep, just like the timeline. 10,000-20,000 will still remain until 2018. That's one hell of a declared end to an undeclared war.

As a side note: I loved that Ron Paul completely schooled Michele Bachmann last night. Too bad the conservative media feels inclined to label Paul insane and not Bachmann.

Probably, I'm inclined to believe nothing she says thus ignore her.

Not all conservatives are warmongers, but Fox sure loves their neoconservatism, which has essentially become the Southern Baptist of liberalism, while hiding under the conservative suffix. LOL... but yeah, the neocons were trying to make Ron look like he would do nothing if someone else were threatening us. They want to eventually use force on everyone that isn't following our rules or beliefs. But we have the momentum to at least put one person in the White House that wants to be a bit more level headed. When I say we, I don't mean party cheerleaders.

I'm thinking I'll vote Republican in the primary just so I can vote for Ron Paul haha. I honestly think debates between him and Obama would be true debates rather than just for show like most debates have become in recent years. Now, there's alot I dont agree with Ron Paul on, but on foreign policy I absolutely agree with him. But to me he conducts himself like a realist and isnt' afraid to say something that isn't part of the party line. It would also seem to me he could actually attempt to keep all of his promises (Congress likely wouldnt let him but for example like this latest defense bill, he would veto it, while Obama promised to veto such a bill and now he goes right ahead and signs it).

Ron Paul 2012!

My friend just got deployed on Wednesday to Afghanistan (Air Force). I think most people think by declaring the war is finally over, that all of our troops will be back asap..

Well the Afghan War is nowhere near winding down. Besides once we end those wars the military industrial complex needs something new to get an influx of federal dollars for...sooo..thats where Iran comes in.

“Naturally the common people don't want war; [neither in Russia, nor in England, nor in America, nor in Germany. That is understood.] But after all, it is the leaders of the country who determine policy, and it is always a simple matter to drag the people along, whether it is a democracy, or a fascist dictatorship, or a parliament, or a communist dictatorship. Voice or no voice, the people can always be brought to the bidding of the leaders. That is easy. All you have to do is to tell them they are being attacked, and denounce the pacifists for lack of patriotism and exposing the country to danger. It works the same in any country.”
-Hermman Goering at the Numbererg Trials.

These leaders all know exactly what they're doing.

As long as you're not a federalist flavor of the poles, I'll get along with anyone for whatever motive they have for a better nation.

I don't agree with everything Ron Paul says, but a lot of it such as eliminating the Fed and his foreign policy, I do agree with. Economically I agree here and there but not completely.

That's cool. It is his economics that draw me to him, but I don't expect everyone to agree. The foreign policy is also big to me, being an experienced 6 time war vet, as I have prolly said before on the site. But everyone likes someone for different reasons. I respect that.

I don't respect phonys! :)
