Drought here is getting pretty bad. The western part of the state was blessed with same heavy ass ran today, but it broke apart and missed central Iowa completely. Lol so frustrating.

It's not like a real drought tho that they have in CA. Just like a mini-joking drought.

So yes. I was serious. But let's get back to gardening.

TBD has the best droughts.

I think that's what he wants us to acknowledge.

Anyways.

Got some good rain Saturday.. 7/10 of an inch.. Garden is thriving. Already producing some string beans and poblano peppers.

It's not a California drought, but this is the first time (since I've lived in my house 5 years) that they have asked us to conserve water. I don't really ever recall it being this bad so early into summer. We've received less than 1/10th of an inch over the past month-ish.

North suburbs were starting to get to that point, but that rain Saturday I think helped a bit. If we don't get rain by this weekend, I think we'll get back to the point we were prior to Saturday.

This is quite unusual for this region this time of year, generally droughts don't occur until July/August/September. This is the first Spring drought I'm ever aware of in my life time.

Yeah, it's not good. June is normally thunderstorm season. We don't have rain in the 10 day forecast right now. I know most farmers are sweating bullets right now.

California has been fighting this water shortage shit since I got married in 1975. It never ends. And I fully realize no drought is "best". Now Lake Mead in Nevada is drying up as well.

I seem to recall California having water issues throughout its entire history.. I think the whole Los Angeles Aqueduct was built because the LA region lacked a reliable amount of water for its growing size, and this whole system led to some sort of water wars.. the movie Chinatown is loosely based on it.

Well Californians need to stop using so much water?

Just build 20 more desalination plants like Carlsbads then Californians could stop complaining. California could then build a pipeline and sell water to Nevada etc etc and fill Lake Mead. Too progressive huh

All this rain and heat is moving our garden along very well. We had the first tomato out of our garden last night. Damn it was good.

Ate a few tomatoes last week. Lost about half my Chile plants from that hail storm. So small pepper harvests this year unfortunately....
