It was great seeing the Cup in person during the parade, but unfortunately I missed the whole rally because there just wasn't a good spot down there when I arrived (just before 9am). They needed more than one video board, because from my vantage point the video board was obstructed by street light poles and I couldn't see the stage. They also needed more open space, way too confined for that many people. Combine that with the weather and that I came with the purpose of taking pictures, I felt very frustrated. I'm sure those that were able to arrive there early and get a good spot had the experience of a lifetime, but the further back you were, the worse it got, at least that's how it seemed to me. I may have been better off staying at home, but...
I came to see Lord Stanley and I wasn't leaving without doing that, so I retreated back to Washington and State in front of Marshall Field's. I got some real good looks there, I was able to pick out a good spot just in time before that place too started swarming with people. Oh well, it was worth it to go through all that trouble just to see the Stanley Cup and see Toews and Kane flaunt it to us on the last bus.
Here are a few photos I got of my time down there:
And the mess it left behind!
