My favorite teams
  1. Chicago White Sox
  2. Chicago Cubs
  1. Chicago Fire
  1. Chicago Bulls
  1. Chicago Bears
  1. Chicago Blackhawks
  1. Chicago State Cougars
  2. DePaul Blue Demons
  3. Illinois-Chicago Flames
  4. Loyola Ramblers
  5. Northern Illinois Huskies
  6. Northwestern Wildcats
I think it's two at each position (one starter, one backup) plus the utility guy. There's only a 34 man roster and about 14 of them are pitchers, plus three catchers.

****, Furcal really shouldn't be in then... Lowrie and Desmond

I think the players and managers have a say in filling out the bench. Some of the spots are filled out by player vote and some by manager's discretion. In particular I think the managers get to choose their pitching staff.

Maybe Wikipedia says something about this.

Then there's the final fan vote for last player in each league.

fans pick the starting position players and the final vote. So if you are not the lead vote getter, you are at the mercy of the manager.

Managers pick pick the pitching staff

I believe the Managers also pick the bench with players suggestions in mind, though he knows he has to have one player rep from each team.

There are a handful of players who could make the team, based on how they played, and none will be a starter.

Garza, Dempster (would have likely), Russell (one of the best left handed pitchers in the league out of the pen) and maybe Shawn Camp. Castro, Soriano and LaHair

those are the best six options, seven if Demps could go.

if he is forced to be the only rep than thats fine, doesnt mean he is all star material.

wow

He a legit starting SS in the league. 95% of teams wish they could have a 22 y/o SS that can hit .300 steal 20+ on pace to hit 12-15 HR

I think Castro deserved last year's All-Star bid more than this season. This season, if Dempster hadn't gotten hurt, Castro might not even be going.
