I left the garage door open this morning to air it out a bit.

When I walked into it after about 3 hours there was a Pit Bull lying on the floor relaxing..
I went over and noticed he was under nourished, had 2 ticks on him, and some fleas. No dog collar or tags. Looked like he was in a few fights as he was scarred up a bit...I called the local animal shelter and no one was looking for him. I also checked the ads in the local paper. Nothing!

I gave him a flea bath, and removed the tics. I also fed and watered him...If I don't hear of anyone missing him, he is ours.

Seeing that he is a scrapper and showed no ill effects from it, I named him.

FIELDS!

A stray pit is a good way to get fucked up. Get to know the dog first. You have no clue what may set him off and you don't want to fight a pit.

Has ticks
Has fleas
Is malnourished
Eats dog food
Gets beat up a lot
Barely bathes

It's like the canine version of yourself! Perfect match!

OK sling blade...How am I supposed to get to know a stray dog prior to when he wandered into my garage?
This is dumb, even for you

I know when I lose my dog the first thing I do is put an ad in the local paper in hopes of reaching the 50 people that still read the newspaper
The ads for lost dogs are free, and if 50 people read the ad, that's 50 more than if ya didn't advertise

If I may suggest something - try looking up local lost and found Facebook groups or community pages. You might have more luck finding the owner (if you even want to find the owner?) sounds like the dog wasn't taken care of very well.

My wife is already doing that. We are going thru the motions to find the owner, but honestly, he is sleeping right next to me on the floor right now..I almost would prefer the owner isn't found. But ya never know what the dogs mental state is like. He may have been abused and start getting aggressive towards us. He was good when I gave him the flea bath, stood right there, and seemed as happy as a lark. But ya never know. I will be extremely careful until he is acclimated into life here

Yeah, and he might want to check the local ads for the next few days. The owner may have used the Pony Express to transport the ad. Sometimes those fellers take a few days because they prefer to mosey on their horse rather than riding with some giddy-up!

Not everyone can afford to send an ad via one of those new-fangled telegraph machines.

How many minorities attempted to mug you on your way to the garage? Did you arm yourself prior to this epic excursion?

We're all very concerned about your safety during this amazing journey.

I once made a thread about my walk to the bathroom. That shit was the most liked excavation since Carter.

These replies are hilarious.

But seriously though, I hope it works out and you're able to give that dog a loving and stable environment. People that treat animals like the way it sounds like this dog was treated at the very least don't deserve to be pet owners. And in many cases deserve a straight up beat down.

Thats NOT what you told me Sling Blade..You told me to get to know the dog first. Which was impossible

You must have taken your helmet off. Go put it back on and stay away from caffeinated drinks

So far, so good..The dog is a perfect gentleman..We will put him in the spare room for the night though. We don't want to take any chances.

He even went by the door when he wanted to go take a dump
