Id wager my sweet ass virginity that Sharp is playing through a nasty injury.

That said, maybe he shouldn't be on the ice. However, between the two, I will take Sharps hockey IQ over Vergiveaways.

I'll sum it up as such:

Hossa's not scoring, but he's actively trying to keep the puck out of the net.

Sharp's not doing much of anything, but there's really no one that is an upgrade if he sits.

Versteeg is actively helping LA's game in all situations. Taking him off the ice and shortening the bench actually helped the team last night. Knee healed or not, you can't fix stupid.

Sharp can be demoted to a line keeping Zeus warmed up for the PK, and soak up minutes without a net loss or gain. His use on the PP? What else is new? About the only thing I can pull from his play this offseason is that between him and Hossa, I'd move Sharp first to clear cap for Towes/Kane.

But why would you take that away from the one he hasn't played well in and in effect ignore all the others in which he has. Where in 10' it was arguable he could've won the Conn Smythe. My problem with this whole thing isn't the criticism that he's been bad, its the idea that he just doesn't care. That all he wanted to do this season was make Team Canada. Its bullshit.

I'm not insinuating that at all.

Sharp & Hoss both look snakebit offensively. It happens to just about every player. IMHO the difference between good players and great players is that when they're not scoring, they do everything else at a high level that still keeps the puck out of our net, or keeps the puck in their zone to give the hot scoring hands a chance to bury it.

Hossa has done this, and that's why I think he's done well with Bickell and Toews.

Sharp hasn't and I don't think it's because of a lack of effort. I think he's snakebit all around He's not bringing anything to the table that Shaw, Saad, Kane, and Smith aren't, and in the same vein he's not directly hamstringing the team. Moving him down the lines and giving the hot hands is not maligning Sharp--if he gets a scoring touch back he'll show it even with Regin and Handzus.

I don't think Versteeg is really making a lack of effort it in either--he's just making dumb decisions with the puck that are actively hurting. Thus, he needs to be off the ice for someone who's at least invisible, if not someone who will contribute.

Yeah Versteeg is just...Versteeg. Except slower. There's nothing out of the ordinary in his play otherwise. In Sharp there is and, I know it wasn't you doing it, to infer or say its because he's simply not trying hard enough or doesn't care as much is ridiculous.

So you rant and cry that 'who cares what versteeg did in the past...doesn't matter that he's score 20 in all but 1 year of his career'...But let's give poor Sharp a break because 4 years ago he could've won the conn smythe

Do we ignore the phoenix series where he had 1 point in the whole series?

Sharp still has big value, he produced like a motherfucker this regular season. All the same we need out top players to produce in the post season more than the regular season. His streaky play is wearing thin when the cup is on it's way out the door. Hossa has been one of our better players this post season but he hasn't played nearly as heavy as he can, he's been getting muscled way more often than usual. Versteeg is gone. Losing Shaw and Seabrook for what 7 games was a huge blow because they are two of our biggest sparkplugs. Kane has played well despite what the idiot talking heads say during the pregame. Crawford has played good since the first series. Toews has been excellent. Keith is the most surprising no show of the finals for me, he has not been himself this series at all. Hammer has not been blocking shots the way he was in the first two rounds, but **** I mean how much can you ask that guy to take? Oduya has played well above expectations basically the entire playoffs. Roszival went from our savvy veteran role player to one of our most boneheaded players. Smith has played himself into a nice contract. Bickell has done everything we expected from him when we paid him his value last off season, except forecheck consistently. Zus has played above most expectations around this place but he's out the door in a month. Regin doesn't have a ton of skill but he's fast and works harder than just about anyone on the team. Basically we have the talent on paper but we can't remember where we left it when we got home.

No one is talking about giving anyone a break. No one is doing what you're complaining about. You're missing the point. Dumbass play has always been a staple of Versteeg. Always. Whether he was fully healthy or not, he made the same bad decisions. Whether he was scoring 20 goals in Florida or a depth player on the Hawks Cup run, same bad decisions. Same puckhandling into turnovers constantly. Nothing has changed in that other than him getting slower, which makes it even worse now. That's why he needs to go away. Hey, I had high hopes when that trade happened, mostly because it would mean Brookbank wouldnt be put on wing anymore. But it hasn't worked out. For as much as you're complaining about Sharp being a no show so far, the Hawks can afford even less to have a player like Versteeg out there giving the puck away every goddamn shift he takes the ice. Sometimes multiple times on the same shift.

You're talking about getting rid of Sharp because he's most likely playing through an injury. See,when you say asinine things like that as well as Sharp just wanting to get on the Olympic team and played hard only for that (despite being here for going on 10 fucking years now and never showing to be a selfish player like that as well as being a captain for years now) and then "defend" Versteeg because he can score 20 goals while fucking up every other shift while AT THE SAME TIME justify a guy like Handzus and his ice time on the second line because they need someone who doesn't turn the puck over and is defensively responsible, you destroy your own arguments. It's hard to keep track of all the contradictory bullshit you spew.

Who implied that Sharp wasn't trying or that he was disinterested? I don't think there is a player on this team that fits that description. Doesn't change how dreadful some of these guys have played.

Versteeg is nothing to this team. Sharp scored 30 goals in a season that ended TWO MONTHS AGO.

Yes, you give poor Sharp a break, which would include not comparing him to an afterthought like Kris Versteeg.

Let's hope the 4th time is a charm. The 3 hawks games I went out to a bar to watch they have lost this playoffs. I am going out to watch them tonight, either the trend will be broken, or I am not meant to witness a hawks playoff win in public.
