But that is not what I said. I never said Cutler was a good QB. I said you could win with Cutler. You can if the rest of the team is good enough.
That 2010 team, the rest of the team was good enough. As you said the Packers scored 0 points in the 2nd half while we scored 14 with our 3rd stringer... The defense knew how to stop GB's offense.. The Bears offense, led by Jay Cutler, has never beat the Packers unless given 20000 penalties. So because of that the Bears didnt have a chance to compete in the Super Bowl that year.

Cutler is average, not bad. Look up the stats.

And yes, the Ravens won a Superbowl with Trent Dilfer at QB in which they went 5 consecutive games without scoring a touchdown.

So all the Bears need to have is one of the all time great defenses to have a chance at winning the Super Bowl?

If you are referring to the 2010 Week 3 game, the Packers had 18 penalties. However, 3 of them were presnap penalties at their own 1 yard line which had no effect and 2 of them were laterals on the final play of the game. 13 real penalties on the road in a hostile environment. Not that big of a fluke. Most of them were preventing a sack by Peppers or an easy completion.

Yes. But that is true for every team that doesn't have a probowl quarterback. And probowl quarterbacks do not grow on trees.

Sorry given Cutler's history against the Packers there is zero reason to believe he would be good in the 2nd half.

Also with Cutler, the Bears allowed Green Bay into the post season to begin with. Cutler played like shit in the season finale as the Bears scored 3 measly points against Green Bay while the defense played lights out.

Yeah, I remember the freak INT Briggs got off of Donald Drivers foot. The defense played as well as possibly could be expected.

You have to consider some of the flip side though. Cutler absolutely played well against GB in the week 17 two years ago when we barely missed the playoffs. He made all the right throws and we were a Jeffery drop from a playoff berth. That said, I think that was literally the only game Cutler outplayed GB, and wasn't lucky.

And all-time great defenses don't grow on trees either and even then a QB can ruin a teams chances of a Super Bowl see 2006 and 2010

That's not possible Scoot. Therefore, your argument is invalid.

A) Grossman is not as good as Cutler
B) The 2010 defense was not an "all time great". I am not even sure 2006 was. Very very good, yes.
C) You play with the hand you are dealt. The Bears in the Lovie era were closer on defense than they were to having a great QB.

Superbowl winners

2014 Patriots - HOF QB
2013 Seahawks - alltime great defense
2012 Ravens - Probowl caliber QB and very good defense
2011 Giants - Probowl caliber QB and very good defense
2010 Packers - HOF QB
2009 Saints - HOF QB
2008 Steelers - Probowl caliber QB and very good defense
2007 Giants - Probowl caliber QB and very good defense
2006 Colts - HOF QB
2005 Steelers - Probowl caliber QB and very good defense
2004 Patriots - HOF QB
2003 Patriots - HOF QB
2002 Bucs - alltime great defense
2001 Patriots - HOF QB
2000 Ravens - alltime great defense
1999 Rams - HOF QB

Do I need to go on and on? Without a probowl QB, you need a great great defense. But it is possible.

It doesn't take much to see why the Bears have struggled over the years. No matter how well the D played, Cutler simply couldn't put together a decent game against the Packers. Cutler has never had a game against the Packers without throwing at least 1 INT. He has never had more than 2 TDs. He has had 8 games against the Packers in which his completion percentage was lower than 60%. Until the QB who is 1-11 against the team the division runs through can improve the Bears will continue to struggle.

2009

17-36 (47.2%) - 277 yards - 1 TD - 4 INT
23-36 (63.9%) - 209 yards - 2 TD - 2 INT

2010

16-27 (59.3%) - 221 yards - 1 TD - 1 INT
21-39 (53.8%) - 168 yards - 0 TD - 2 INT
6-14 (42.9%) - 80 yards - 0 TD - 1 INT

2011

21-37 (56.8%) - 302 yards - 2 TD - 2 INT

2012

11-27 (40.7%) - 126 yards - 1 TD - 4 INT
12-21 (57.1%) - 135 yards - 1 TD - 1 INT

2013

15-24 (62.5%) - 226 yards - 2 TD - 1 INT

2014

22-34 (64.7%) - 256 yards - 2 TD - 2 INT
22-37 (59.5%) - 272 yards - 1 TD - 2 INT

Yes you can win with Cutler.

No the Bears will not compete for the playoff this year with Cutler.

Cutler will be gone after this year.

This makes the very first point moot.
