Luol Deng to the Magic unlikely - Orlando Sentinel
Magic GM: Team hasn’t spoken with Bulls about Luol Deng – Orlando Magic BasketBlog – Orlando Sentinel
LOL wow. Asik has barely been able to stay healthy enough to compete overseas and has been very underwhelming when he has and now people expect him to play meaningful minutes on an NBA team playing for a championship?
There's high hopes and then there's dementia.
I'd be interested to know what about Asik gives you any hope at all...let alone high hopes because I'm willing to bet less than 1% of the fans that talk about him have even seen him play.
Well your looking at it differently then the intended purpose. Do I expect him to be a starter? No (sure hope he could, but don't expect it) Am I expecting him to come in and be a decent back up? Yes. Maybe I slightly over estimated the amount of mintues that I originally posted. But I think 10-15 mintues is a decent amount where he can have a positive impact on the team. I mean lets look at the positives:
-he is 7' tall and 255 lbs he defenitely has the size for the position.
-Set a blocked shots record in Europe.
-finished the season ranked fourth in the Euroleague Rising Star Award voting
-fifth in the Best Defender Award voting
-24 years old
Meanwhile he is playing in a much more skilled league then college, so based off his statistics in Europe Pro Ball compared to Taj Gibsons college statistics, u'd have to think that he can have at least a similar impact. You can't expect much more then good rebounding and defense from your back up center and Asik gives you both. So you ask what gives me hope? the facts listed above is what gives me hope.
