Win a game in the playoffs and then we'll talk. Until that happens, Lovie should be canned.

He's been riding the success of making it to the Super Bowl for awhile now. However a lot of great coaches get canned for a lot more production, even in the playoffs.

It's a weird situation and truly 50/50.

You guys seriously think that this Lovie's Bear team has been and is good as Cowher's Steelers, Gruden's Bucs, Dungy's Colts, Ditka's Bears?

You can't say Team A is better than Team B unless they play and one of them wins the game.

Patriots are the best team in the NFL right now.....just several weeks ago, they lost to the Browns. That is why we love football, anything can happen in any game.

You guys are too caught up on subjective issues.

Hell no...but Lovie Smith isn't responsible for drafting 1st round busts every single season.

You all are way too unrealistic. The Bears are pretenders. This year and the last 6 years. Well, they've been bad more often than not in the last 6 years but for 2 they did a pretty good job of faking it also.

That's very diplomatic of you.

Regardless of that, discussing firing the coach at this point in the season, given what has happened to this point this season, is so utterly and unfathomably ridiculous and asinine, the thought alone should prompt severe migraines due to unreasonable substantiations and expectations from given person(s).

he should have been fired after last season..

So we could start over w/ fresh blood...a coach w/ no experience like Jim freaking Harbaugh, and be sitting at the 4-9 that everyone predicted. Excellent.

Okay so you're ignoring the past 3 years and that fact that only one of his seasons has resulted in a playoff victory?

Hell no I'm not ignoring them. I'm saying, right now, we have him. and right now, in the present, this freaking season, he has gotten more out of his team than any other new coach would have.

I don't think that discussing firing the coach after what happened with the Patriots is out of line in the least bit. That was all the proof I needed.

better that than to continue with mediocrity that has plagued this franchise since Ditka left

And you're quite sure replacing Lovie would change that.

Using your logic...Mike Ditka is solely responsible for the demise of the 80's Chicago Bears team.

what is he responsible for?

3 losing seasons and 3 winning seasons (2008 was a 9-7 team..winning season..non-playoffs)...This will be his 4th winning season and in all likelihood another playoff appearance and a 3rd division title...which is two more than the Packers have had since Lovie Smith became the head coach.

Its not his fault Jerry Angelo wasted the entire 2007 draft...Angelo has a complete inability to draft offensive linemen, and since 2007, has an complete inability to draft defensive lineman.

Ok I will repeat...I am not a fan of Lovie Smith. If I ran the Bears I would have demanded at the beginning of the season this team goes to the NFC Championship or bust....However, its best to be realistic in this situation. The Bears were expected to be god awful this year. Instead they are 9-4...Overachieving, whatever, who cares.. They are what their record says they are. 9-4, in 1st place. Could change in the Final three weeks but we'll see. But A) You dont fire a coach when you have a winning season. Thats fixing something that is not broken (Much like was done after losing the Super Bowl). To fire him, we would bring in someone who would completely rework the team and alot of change would have to be made and while you cry mediocrity now...just wait until the coaching change and all kinds of new personnel need to brought in...mind you with a management that has no idea how to get personnel for the most part. Cause lets also be serious...Angelo and Ted Phillips aren't going anywhere.

And there's the issue of there might not be a season next year...This is the Bears..they dont piss away money like Dan Snyder.

It's easy to look at that record now and say that but back in October their wins weren't exactly convincing.

When you say the Bears...do you mean Lovie Smith...or the 53 players that compose the roster for each game of the last 6 years?

You're correct, this season's 9 wins were not convincing wins before the games were played.

And the Super Bowl run wasn't very convincing either...just a bunch of bad players over-achieving. damn coaches.

You know, I don't think we have given Lovie enough credit. Looking at some of these past drafts...they have been completely MISERABLE. It's amazing we have mustered up 5 wins this season to be honest.

That's on the GM not Lovie.
