Washington Capitals player Alexander Ovechkin is promoting a game I've been playing for a few years. A Hokey game right, nope.

The company is mostly Russian, headquartered in Cypress now, with offices all over the world, but it is viewed by all as a Russian game, so I guess that makes some sense.

A year or two ago they had a promotion where you could get a bonus "captain" Steven Seagal.

Looks like he shed some pounds for that. Those Russians are wacky. Still a fun game though.

I play on a PC. However:

World Of Tanks from the same company is on consoles and gets good reviews.

I like the game, but if you're a FPS guy you might find this boring. Depending on game mode, map, play style, and ship type you could go a couple minutes without firing a shot. Although if you do go more than a minute without firing a shot you are either a coward, or incredibly lucky to have gone where the enemy did not, and get to capture bases uncontested.

Returned to They Are Billions over the weekend.

The final zerg they do at the end of a game, even when I lose I can't help but enjoy the game.

A game that can be very challenging, but still fun and rarely makes me ragequit....

I liked when gaming had its own forum...

Anyway, just finished dragon quest 11. Its a very traditional jrpg, which usually isn't my thing, largely due to random encounters and cheesey style. But in the end it was fun. The last third drags like hell though consisting of backtracking and endless shit side quests which I just gave up on.

Now I just started bard's tale 4. I didn't even realize it was out. It's pretty much an exact opposite of DQ being a traditional old school western rpg and on paper is far more my style. I'm only an hour in or so but I can say it's not optimized for shit.

First RTX 1070 benchmarks are out.

Meh. Only 15-20% faster than the GTX 1080, whereas the 1070 was 30% faster than the 980 when it came out. This leaves the RTX 2070 still what I'd call barely managing "acceptable" 4k gaming performance. I was hoping that this generation of cards would see a mainstream model capable of handling 4k, but it looks like we'll have to wait again. And 1440p seems like such a dead-end to move up to that it's not worth bothering.

Still clinging to Fortnite as a time waster until Red Dead 2 and Fallout 76 come out. Then -- Smash Bros in December. Supposedly, Sony is going to have a PS4 Pro bundle with Red Dead for $399, so it might be a worthwhile time to finally upgrade from a standard PS4.
