Nerdy, but I am reading the 2nd book in the expanse series.

Here is the first:

Good hard science fiction with a big sweeping scope like game of thrones or some shit. In fact, I think one of the authors is an assistant writer for Martin. Excellent reading - smart, entertaining, competent writing, great characters. Best sci fi I have read in years. Good enough that I get excited when its time to go to bed and read for an hour or two. Has kept me up a couple times.
I haven't had a ton of time to read lately, but I've been sick the last few days, so lots of time laying around the house. Started Leviathan Wakes, probably like halfway through. Enjoying it so far. Thanks again for the suggestion.

Found a cool site today, hourly history:

https://www.hourlyhistory.com/

Premise is basically history books that can be read in an hour. Tons of free ones. You can sign up for their list and they'll send you a new one every Friday, or go to Amazon and download them from there. Sent a few to my Kindle already to check out. I think I'm gonna set a goal to try and get through 3 a week. In a year that's over 150 topics that I'll know a shitload more about. Figured I'd pass it along here in case anyone is interested.

Never Split the Difference

Former FBI negotiator on how to negotiate. Have already implemented a couple tactics in some recent deals we've closed at work. Has been an awesome read, highly recommend.

Based on this recommendation, I went to Amazon and looked at a few reviews. The reviews in total were overwhelmingly 5 stars, and the first few I read were long and very complimentary.

One reviewer mentioned he had purchased the book 29 times - once for himself, and 28 times as a gift.

I ordered it and just received my copy today, and will eagerly start reading tonight.

I will give more feedback once I have read it, but I look forward to it. Thanks for this recommendation.

Hell, I was trying to decide what was next on my non fiction list...I guess I'll read it too. CCS book club time!

Ready to start a new book. Got a few for Christmas, just need to decide which one to start first:

- Springfield Confidential (Stories about writing for the Simpsons)
- All The Pieces Matter: The Inside story of The Wire
- Those guys have all the fun (ESPN)

Been reading lots of short stories lately.
Just read Barn Burning by both Faulkner and Murakami.
I don't know if Murakami wrote it as an homage to Faulkner or just coincidence, but 2 very different stories, each great in its own way.
