Morrison's appearance in The Last Waltz is phenomenal.

I have seen it 100 times. There is a great scene early on Further on Down the Road, where Clapton's guitar strap breaks mid solo and Robbie Robertson picks up the solo without losing a beat.

Also, wanted to post this version of Poor Elijah I just found. Thought I saw them all by Delaney and Bonnie. There were more beautiful women but none sexier. Her signing and movements do it for me. Also, listen to Delaney's voice. He was considered a legend in the south in the 60s. Also, if you look closely you will see Leon Russell standing but not signing (EVEN THOUGH HE CO-WROTE THE SONG)

ISNT PHISH A BIG TIME COVER BAND? Dont know much about them. The Stones wrote Loving Cup in the basement of a beat up house in France. I like the horns in their version better. The sound was intended to play off the horns. The Phish version is bare.

Jagger wrote this song about marianne faithful. We were talking about her in my last music thread

lol. They have over 450 original songs, but yeah, the pay homage to the greats too. Gotta keeps the songs alive. Phish did a couple tours with full horn sections, which were awesome.

But if you are into guitars, there was about a 4 year stretch where Trey Anastasio was the best guitarist alive.

Check this out...

Ommy you should check out Beck's albums mutations and midnite vultures. I think they would be right up your alley and he draws heavily from the kind of stuff I've seen you list.
