Kane will be our #2 center opening night
Frolik will be traded
Scott Hannan will be signed for defense
Shane O'brien also signed on defense
A 4th line type player will be signed (honestly wouldnt be surprised if it is Burish)
Bolland will be traded for a good top 6 winger
Kruger takes over at the 3C position

I think Bowman is going to do what he thinks he has done well based on last years offseason... Not trade any core guys, which I'm including Bolland/Hammer and just add forwards who are grit 3rd/4th liners and anticipate the young prospects to fill out the top scoring depth whether they make the team right out or go into the rotating call up pattern.

Although I think they'll open the season with Kane centering (if healthy) Hossa and Carcillo. With Sharp-Toews-Stall/Saad being the #1 line.

We won't trade Kane, he will be center.
Doubt Bolland/Hammer for Staal goes through.
Holding out hoping for Suter but doubt it.
No huge moves are made.

I'm serious. He's a free agent, shared his interest to returning to the hawks organization on a radio show this morning

Dews, I don't even see that happening. Really, if that moron didnt learn from last year then he needs to be gone. I think we're gonna see an infusion of youth into the roster. The key veteran players will for the most part will stay but I think some of the Saads, Hayes etc are gonna get their chance to see if they're ready or not. The only thing that might change that is if they pull off a major deal, that could change everything but I dont see it happening.

I don't think we'll see the infusion of youth; actually I'd wager we see the opposite. One of the biggest problems with this team was pushing guys into roles that they weren't ready to handle (e.a. Leddy as top 4 including pk duty and Kruger as a 2C). Q will get his team this year (as we see starting with Oduya) and he will ask for, and receive, vets.

It is pretty unrealistic to expect a suter or parise type player

Lets hope they are good vets which also help special teams

I'd argue that it wasn't the infusion of youth, it was placing them in roles that they were not ready for. Leddy would've been okay on the 3rd pairing, same goes for Olsen. Kruger should have been relegated to 3rd or 4th line duty only.

Add veterans to the big-minute positions, absolutely. But throwing some youth on those bottom-tier lines gives them a chance to develop their game against some easier competition. You can't put veterans in every spot. At some point, you have to take the guys that you've drafted and give them a chance to show they belong--but in the proper spot.

I'd be very against putting a Saad or any other prospect in a bottom tier spot unless that is going to be their ceiling. I'd actually say it hurts their development by putting youth on those bottom lines.

Not only are the 3rd and 4th lines supposed to be defensive minded in a lot of ways but they have certain roles, and those are certainly not a role that I hope Saad will play. Keep those prospects in the minors and let them get their top 6 minutes down there so they can develop.

This team hasnt won a playoff series in two years and quite frankly were a playoff embarrassment last year.

Just wondering what chemistry you are refering to....

I was referring to the chemistry next year. Having players going up and down from Rockford to Chicago is going to kill chemistry on next year's team.

Are you saying that you don't want Saad and Hayes up, specifically, or prospects in general?

None. Maybe if someone gets injured and the player is doing well, otherwise Shaw is the only young player I want up right now.

This is also considering that Frolik and/or Bickell don't get traded. If one of them is traded, I wouldn't care if one prospect took their place.

We should bring back Fraser

Wouldn't mind it if they signed him for cheap.

Agree.

What good does it do for a prospect that you want to play top 6 in the future to be on the 3rd and 4th lines? They won't be getting experience at what they were actually drafted for.

Personally i am in the inoriy who thinks Kane should get traded and id love to dangle him for Getzlaf or Nash. Kane has hit his ceiling and is nothing more than a 70-80 point playmaker who will average 20-30 goals per...he offers no size, grit, PK ability. He sucks at center and really did little last yr on PP....He loses puck battles and is not a chip and go get it player..yes he is very unique as a play maker but does really nothing else well. Getzlaf or Nash both can net 30-40 goals, back check, check, dump and chase, can play center, have size

Clendening should be nowhere near this team next year. He needs some good seasoning in the AHL.

I really liked the way Olsen started but he faded off once teams started to exploit his lack of foot speed and constantly took him wide.

In terms of O'Brien...I'd be for that as he brings some needed tools to the back line.
