What is so appealing about Kanye West?

I realize that he is from Chicago, but I have never heard a good song from this guy. Does it really take talent to rap with his terrible voice? Does he even write his own stuff...? I just can't wrap my mind around it.

I think the fact that he's from Chicago, like you said, is one reason. Plus a lot of people just like to listen to what's on the radio and immediately assume that it's cool because everybody else likes it.

It's all about preference so it's a hard question to answer. But his production is what really sticks out to me the most. He's not the most lyrical rapper but at least he can step outside the typical rap topics.

My dark twisted though every track is solid. there are some tracks on late registration and college drop out that are kinda meh.

Welll.... He makes good music. One of the only rappers I can tolerate. And his good music isn't even on the radio.

The fact that he produces A LOT of music for other artists is good. Started off producing music for rappers, and than started rapping. He has talent, bottom line.
