Kanye West is a beneficiary of circumstance like every music star before him. He's no more talented than plenty of other rappers/hip-hop artists throughout history that get no attention and are broke on the street.
Why isn't he? Because you say he isn't? You're entitled to your own opinion but you're on the other side of the fence with this one.
All 5 of his albums are AT LEAST platinum. All of them. If he's not "more talented" than the rest of them he wouldn't have the number of Grammys he has.
And your argument for people who are broke on the street who are better rappers than he is, quite frankly, it's a joke. If they were that good they would be on a label.
Kanye gets the attention he gets because he is willing to sell out the most. Thats how you get big in Hollywood... selling out to appease the masses in your demographics.
Kanye may not be the artist he was 10 years ago but he sure as hell didn't "sell out" like most of these artists do. So he makes a mainstream track for the radio? Um, hello! That's the name of the game. You can't sell records without getting people to buy them. Why sign with a record label in the first place then? This makes no sense.
His lyrics are self-promoting, tiresome, elementary school, piss-poor grammatical nonsense.

Hush. He spit one of his best songs with his jaw wired shut. And despite this Through the Wire is one of the best hip hop songs of all time.

How many artists do you know that push the religion button in hip hop today? Name me at least 3 because Yeezy is the only one that comes to mind.

And last but not least All Falls Down. I'll posts some lyrics to put this into perspective for you...
I say **** the police, thats how I treat em
We buy our way out of jail, but we can't buy freedom
We'll buy a lot of clothes when we don't really need em
Things we buy to cover up what's inside
Cause they make us hate ourself and love they wealth
That's why shortys hollering "where the ballas' at?"
Drug dealer buy Jordans, crackhead buy crack
And a white man get paid off of all of that
And that's just a snippet of the track. All 3 verses have a point. Grammatical nonsense? GTFOH :lmao:
He is a beneficiary of somebody high up pulling some strings in Hollywood to get his name out there and widely recognized. There are plenty of better rappers than this guy (past and present) yet he is by far the most popular one. And it's because people are sheep. They like what everybody else likes. And they go buy his albums because of that.
He is the "beneficiary" of a hard worker with not just pure but honed talent. Kanye's producing skills are hard to match as well as his mic skills. You wanna talk about Hollywood and shit but you don't even know enough about it to speak on it. How can he be hollywood when there are people like Soulja Boy who did nothing but make a dance song? That's what being a beneficiary is.
LOL Yeezy is
not the most popular artist. This shows how much you know about hip hop. The two most popular are 2Pac and one you should know: Eminem. Eminem has diamond status albums. 2 of them and there will be 3 soon.
People are Yeezy fans because of the songs I mentioned earlier not because we're sheep. I hate it when people play this card, thinking that the human mind isn't capable of taking fondness to something unless the people around them do so as well. Me being a fan of Kanye has NOTHING to do with other people liking him.
He is a talent beat-maker but that's pretty much where it ends. Everything else about the guy seems mediocre to me.
No it isn't & you haven't listened to enough of his work obviously. If you don't like him then don't listen.
The comparison between him and Jordan is completely off-base. Jordan won tangible things. Just because you sell the most records, doesn't make you "the best."
Why is it off base? What you can only be a ****** if you're the best of all time and not just the best? Then why is it you're likely to give Kobe a pass for being a ****** then? Doesn't make sense to me.
And I already stated that Kanye didn't sell the most albums. Eminem did. Learn your facts first kid...
The guy had the audacity to call himself the new Michael Jackson when he is nowhere near as talented... dude's lame.
Comparing music to sports is stupid in and of itself. That wasn't the point of the comparison but that flew completely over your head.
Look, I'm not saying you have to like him but you will respect him...
