No wonder skills was upset in the chatbox LOL.

Who cares that somebody said "your" favorite artist sucks. I dig Kanye just as much as you but I am not bent out of shape one bit. People have different tastes.
I already had a sour mood before I got here I'll admit but I'm not bent out of shape. I'd be in complete rant mode (see my pride check thread) if I was.

I don't care if he doesn't like him. But you can't talk out of your ass about something that you have such strong convictions for. If his argument made sense I wouldn't have even replied...

If this argument you speak of is whether or not Kanye West is a ******, I win.

It is simply a matter of opinion. I don't understand why so many masses of people like the guy or what he has to say in general.

That's not what I was talking about.

I corrected you on lyrics & record sales ← one of those affect appeal and the other is a direct result of appeal.

Okay... Plenty of relatively bad musicians have sold tons of records. That doesn't necessarily mean you aren't overrated- which is a tough word to disprove/correct somebody on the usage of because it is simply a matter of opinion and perspective.

And I don't like his lyrics at all. Or his voice. I know I'm not alone in that area either.

Funny immortal technique doesn't have one gold, let alone platinum album. Sounds like he's just mad he can't sell

Name me one bad hip hop artist that has every album they put out make it to platinum status. 5 albums minimum.

Don't get me wrong, I don't like playing the record sales card either. It's just that the sales for the most part are a direct result of his appeal, which is what you asked for.

...dude. I. Don't. Care. You don't like him, I get that. I already said I'm not trying to get you to like him...

Technique is the president of his label, Viper Records, plus he doesnt wanna get pimped by big labels and put on a leash like Lupe Fiasco.

I know. But I don't see the point of trying to make an album to sell in the first place if you don't want to go platinum or at the very least gold.

Lupe should've went with G.O.O.D. Music. That label would've been ill...

It isn't the matter of if he is appealing. It is the matter of why he is... But I appreciate the time you put in nonetheless.

well, i dont think the major labels would sign a rapper with the message of Technique. They would completely censor his work. Whats the point, .. maybe the message, or the creative freedom you get from your music.

Once again.... Who cares if he is a douchebag? Honestly, Do you listen to his music to see if he's a douchebag? Or do you listen to the music?

You listen to music because of how it sounds. Not to see how much of a ****** a guy really is.

And not talented? GTFO with that. Kanye was the musical artist of the decade. The guy has plenty of talent. His record sales, WHILE WE WERE IN A MAJOR ERA OF ONLINE DOWNLOADING, prove it. He's platinum. Impressive.

Also, on the whole "Is Kanye rap or Hip Hop" thing... You can't compare rap from the 80's/early 90's to Rap today. Rap today isn't good, rap back than was. The orgins of rap were great. But just like people and everything else, it changes. Rap is so much more mainstream today, like Lil Wayne, T.I, Kanye, Luda, Lupe, etc because of the people. People want to hear this music on the radio.

I hate arguments about "Real rap"...Theres point to it, Rap has changed.

'Real' rap doesn't exist. That crap shouldn't even count as 'music' period.

Led Zeppelin, The Beatles, Queen blows that garbage out of the water.

Well that's the best I can come up with. Sorry that it isn't satisfactory

A major wouldn't with his subject matter. It's kinda like if 2Pac tried to come out in 2011 instead of in the early 90s. That kinda stuff won't sell now.

I know they have to eat but still...

:obama: Why isn't it music? I hate it when people play that card...

I listen to Led Zeppelin & Queen as well but from my standpoint hip hop>rock.

lol.. Doesn't make sense.

AGentE, Your a big sneakerhead I know that. Let's compare that to this... You buy and rock Jordans right? Well, MJ was a douchebag when he was player but yet you still buy his shoes. Jordans are getting way overpriced, compared to what they used to be. You know that too, and it seems like JB doesn't care about the fans... yet you and me and others still buy them?

Just because someone is a ****** doesn't mean he doesn't make good music..

ya i dont get why people are associating kanye's "douchiness" to his music...ya..some of his music reflects who he is..but its really about his family and friends rather than himself

either way, if you think kanye's music sucks....think of a better reason than the fact that he's a ******

Jordan was a ******? to me he wasnt, fierce competitor and made enemys for sure, but so what, he was on my team, so i guess you could say he was my ******. He might be a ****** in his personal life, but not enough to make me stop buying his kicks. I love Mj, so call me bias, but Kanye does make me wanna stop buying his music and I do. I certainly would never pick up a pair of Yeezy's.
