Had a stint in the mid 90's....is it as good as it was then? I've got cards, but haven't paid attention in forever...
No, it's insane now.

Basketball is white hot. Nothing compares to basketball. Anything from the last couple years basketball, Luka, Ja, and Zion especially, you can call your shit and somebody will buy it.

I got extremely lucky buying those boxes of cards they sell at walmart of Prizm basketball before the pandemic.

Now, those same boxes, boxes retailed at 20 bucks are selling for 500.

If you still have 90's, I would look and see what Jordans you have. Some of the insert cards from back in the day graded gem mint could get you a nice car or a down payment on a house.

Baseball is hot, but has nothing on basketball. Mike Trout Topps rookies, packs I picked up on clearance at Meijer, sell for a grand raw. Graded about five times that much.

Hockey? Not so much.

Football? Mahomes and Jackson

Soccer? Everything soccer right now is hot.

My advice to anybody- if you can find Prizm, any sport, buy all of it. Even soccer, buy all of it until the market stabilizes. If you can find it, throw it on Amazon or ebay.

My son was showing me how to use my iPad with the garage band app to play a drum beat thru my amp to help play songs. He started out on bass but now he is playing guitars more.

That would have been a god-send back in the day.
can you craft your own or are they presets?

back in the early 2000s I screwed around with the sony magix and acid music editors to create drum loops to play with, but it was a long, cumbersome process.
I would lay a drum track, burn it to cd, play it on the laptop and mic the amp, and use the sound wave of the drum track getting picked up on the mic to line it up to the drum track in the editing software.

I would imagine nowadays those 20 hours of screwing around could be done in 30 minutes.

how TF did sports cards become popular again!?

I mean I guess fathers aren't teaching their children that it is all just perceived value?

I bought bunches of cards in the 80's that turned out to be worth dogshit. They can produce as many as they can sell and flood the market and there is zero accountability over that.

I guess if there is flip profit to be made make hay while you can, but I do not imagine this to be some sustainable market if it is anything like the Upper Deck, Donruss, and Fleer days.

Blame the pandemic.

Sports fans looking for an escape while locked up needed an outlet.

Plus, it doesn't hurt that a 20 dollar box of cards at Walmart can net you a card worth a grand. It's gambling masked as collecting.

I had the whole '92 Olympic team set minus some of the plastic and autographed cards.
Gave it to my baby cousin that was born in 92. He turned out to be a real asshole. Probably traded the shit for smack years ago.

There's a lot more 1/1s now. 1/5s etc. My buddy is a big time collector.

Your not gonna find any retail anywhere.

If you do, buy all of it. I'm not joking.

There's reddits dedicated to assholes who buy up entire retail stock then post pictures of it online.

When the new Bowman baseball came out, there's some 16 year old Yankee in it, they never made it to the shelves. Ppl were masquerading as the guys who put out the inventory, getting the stock, and walking right up to the register and buying all of it. Bowman has a "paper" version, and a "Chrome" version. The paper is more plentiful and they were selling secondary for up to 50 bucks. The Chrome double that.

Prizm mosaic football just came out this week retail and I snagged everything that was at the Walmart only because I got lucky and the guy was putting it out when I went in to take a shit (taco bell)

I actually prefer to go alone. Getting away from people and finding a little zen.

I had a ton of cards as a kid, including a complete set of the "Kiss" cards and a very respectable set of elvis cards.
My dickbag brother sold those and my star wars people and my matchbox cars right around the time star wars episode 1 came out.

dick move.
