Anything that you can buy at Jewel/Osco was targeted towards kids. IMO.
Or broke-asses like me (my other colognes were Christmas presents).

Yeah it does.Just because i give you a nickname doesnt mean you have to give me one. Why Neverland? Because you think im a dreamer or something?

Nah, I don't care too much about what other guys wear, as long as I don't have to smell it full strength for a long period of time.
I'm just being hipster here. But I only pay $15 for my cologne. If you shop by senses, and not by some written reviews, you'll find more stuff that you like for less.
IDK if any of you have ever heard of TPA(The perfumers apprentice). But you can get extracts of all sorts of "flavors". Mixing a fragrance isn't that hard, you just need to understand the basics of bonding, which may have been taught to some people in a high school or a 101 chemistry class. Very easy to do.
I even buy "pure" or "free" laundry detergents, and add my own. My girlfriends have had no idea that I do this, but they get tripped out and want to find whatever laundry detergent that I use LMAO!
I typically get a bath&body cologne for Christmas every year (hence the Twilight Woods I posted earlier)...a big bottle costs $40 or so, but the one I got last year is still 1/3 full...and it's Christmas again. I use it probably 5 days a week.
i dont think i would be very good with that. I love colognes and stuff but overall i dont have a great sense of smell to the point where i can figure out tones and notes in a scent. Im better off buying some fragrance straight up.
Wait....
Does Twilight Woods make you sparkle and shit?
Still looking for a new one... a year and a half later.
Take a scientific approach to it.
First break down smells that enhance your personality. A little bit of aromatherapy research should go a long way(when applied with your own input, and not the highly opinionated and sponsor-marketed knowledge of the internets).
Then decide what you want to fragrance to symbolize, as far as your goals. Is it just something for you to smell, or others. If others, is it women, the guys you hang out with, family, business, or something neutral to all of it.
Lastly, are you looking to diversify in a crowd, meaning, do you care if you smell like every other cologne wearing person, or do you want to have something that is very unique.
Just don't fall into this trap, where you buy a pretty box, nice color, ect. Just because the advertisement had a sexy girl on it.
If anything, reading on aromatherapy still gives you some benefit, because you might learn more about your own sense of smell. Things that trigger good and bad feelings, ect.
See rep comment(just for you, because I like you BNB). That might be of interest to you. It might not, a lot of subjectivity with smells.

Brute, Old Spice, Piere Cardin, Jovan Musk, Nautica, Tommy. These are the colognes that boys wear in Junior High.
Lol. I STILL wear Nautica, have since I was like 15 (I'm 37 now). I can't help myself. I love the way it smells. I guess they have a handful of different scents. Stuff I use comes in a bottle that looks like this:
