OK, I looked it up real quick.

February 22, 2011: (James Johnson)Traded by the Chicago Bulls to the Toronto Raptors for a 2011 1st round draft pick (Norris Cole).
June 23, 2011: (Norris Cole) Traded by the Chicago Bulls with Malcolm Lee and cash to the Minnesota Timberwolves for Nikola Mirotic.

So this Euro kid was acquired for Jonson and Malcolm Lee. At this point that seems like a positive move. I wonder if Norris Cole is going to be better than Marcus Teague.

Paxson ended up getting a first rounder for Johnson right? And for Tyrus? At least he some what rectified those mistakes.

Only a 2nd rounder for Johnson. Tyrus became the Bobcats pick if I'm not mistaken.

The Bulls got the Heats 1st round pick which Toronto picked up from the Chris Bosh sign and trade. I think the Bulls traded the player, I forget what for.

Bulls traded James Johnson for Miami's pick that the Raptors owned. The Bulls traded that pick along with their second rounder to Minnesota for the rights to Nikola Mirotic.

I would keep Deng!

Wait for Mirotic and amnesty Boozer then.

Rose
Butler
Deng
Mirotic
Noah

with Hinrich, Gibson & some shooters off the bench.

That should be a much better team than trading for Love and giving up more than half of our roster!

This is what I get for not clicking on links...

I did a google search and the snippet below the link said this,

Feb 22, 2011 – The Chicago Bulls have sent James Johnson to the Toronto Raptors for a future second round pick, sources told ESPN The Magazine's Ric

So yeah...that's why I said 2nd rounder. My bad. The actual link said it was for the Miami 1st rounder. Herp derp.

But that means Johnson turned into Mirotic, so perhaps even that move was redeemed.

paxon likes drafting players that went far in the NCAA tourney.

Hinrich made it to the championship game but lost to Syracuse, Ben Gordon won the tourney, he drafted Aldridge then traded him for Tyrus who made the final 4, Noah who won 2 NCAA tourneys, Derrick rose made the NCAA championship game.

Chris Duhon also won the NCAA championship... and he traded for Luol Deng after the Suns drafted him.... Luol Deng also made the final 4.

Yeah. But isn't Johnson technically under Forman's watch since he was the gm? Obviously Pax was involved, but yeah. I guess they continued it last year if Teague.

Deng and Duhon were on the same Duke team? I guess since Deng was a one and done Duke won the year before? Or...just sometime before Deng played. Don't really keep track of NCAA so can't remember.

Well we always call them GarPax, so I've just kept them together basically.

Keep Luol Deng around. You can never have too many good players. Three all stars in Derrick Rose, Luol Deng and Joakim Noah. A former all star in Carlos Boozer and a stud in Jimmy Butler.

I don't see the Bulls having three All-Stars if Rose makes a full return to the dominant player he was pre-injury.

It´not about who finally makes the Allstar team, it´s about who is good enough to be even in that conversation.

Fact is with Rose, Deng, Noah and Boozer we have four players who are that good.

Look at Steph Curry. Is he an Allstar? No!
Is he an Allstar calliber player? Hell yeah!

Well most teams like drafting players that went Duke, UNC, Michigan State, Kansas, Kentucky etc. Paxon just seemed to be obsessed with drafting players that made it to the final 4.. And I actually don't know if that's always the best thing. Sometimes those final 4 teams could be stacked and you never really know which player is gonna be good or not. I mean, look at that UNC team that beat Illinois in 2004 [I think?] They had Marvin Williams, Raymond Felton, Sean May and Rashad MacCants. It seemed like May and McCants were their best players. They were both huge busts in the NBA. Felton and Williams have been very disappointing considering where they were drafted. I'd prefer drafting a player that took their team to the tourney and advanced a round or two basically by himself.. Like Stephen Curry for example.

Deng and Duhon were on the same Duke team? I guess since Deng was a one and done Duke won the year before? Or...just sometime before Deng played. Don't really keep track of NCAA so can't remember.

Yeah, they played together in 03-04. I think Duhon won the NCAA title in 01 though?

And yeah Paxson thought it was creating a culture of winning. Personally his guys have worked out fairly decent for the Bulls though. But they were never enough to put Chicago over the top.

Yeah, at least he hasn't drafted complete busts for the most part. The Aldridge/Tyrus thing was bad, but it's been alright overall. And plus, it's not like he drafted guys over players that wound up being a shit ton better. Like, if he had a higher pick and drafted Kirk Hinrich over Wade, Bosh, etc. that would have been terrible. But after Hinrich went Ford, Sweetney, hayes, pietrus, collison, etc.

The only miss really is Igoudala. But yeah, looking at the drafts there really nothing that's been missed.

I hear you on that, even though Steph Curry should have been an All-Star this year. I love Jo, but the only reason I think he gets All-Star consideration is because there are so few quality centers nowadays.
