What TV show is better? The Wire vs. Breaking Bad

Do you watch "Better Call Saul"? They are following same thing. Well, I guess cause its the same writer.

I watch better call Saul and like it better in some ways and not as much in others. I feel like this season is going to be the one that decides if it's going to land in the truly great neighborhood or just the really good neighborhood.

Edit: I will say the nice thing about Saul is that you already are familiar with most of the characters so there isn't much introduction needed because you've already seen where they landed in breaking bad.

I think the same thing on this season and im liking it this season. Its going to amp up after a slow build.

Breaking Bad is really good but you just have to suspend disbelief for my tastes for a show like that. Still a great show, some of the most unique cinamatography I've seen, but not quite in that elite class of shows imo.

The Wire is my favorite of all time, a little ahead of Sopranos, Deadwood, The Americans and probably a couple others. Fargo has that potential, but Season 3 wasn't quite up to the standards of the first 2.

The most common complaint of The Wire is that its "boring" "hard to get into" but frankly i did not that problem. On the first viewing i was lukewarm on Season 2 but on re-watch i really appreciated it. Season 4 is spectacular.

I'm going to rewatch it, I know I missed many references and nuances the first time around.

To the OP - define "better". Better directing, production, writing, acting, all of the above?

I've watched it probably five times through. Love the writing, the acting. I think the show is fundamentally about making order out of anarchy, if that helps at all. It's a show that unfolds, I guess, not an episode by episode show if that makes sense.

Two totally different concepts that focus around one specific details. Not to mention it's a fool's errand to try and figure out the subjective tastes of various people.

Also, Andre Royo should have won multiple Emmy's.

What makes it for me is that it could be a documentary. And nothing has changed! The city is arguably in worse shape now compared to back then.
Seasons 1 and 3 are really good.

BB was also really good. For me though, it's the Wur. In Bawlmor, thats how locals say it

Agree with Racer. BB was the more entertaining show of the 2, but the Wire is definitely more culturally relevant. Which one is better? Depends on what you value more in a show.

I'm sure he means The Fly.

I've never seen the Wire but I've never heard anyone say they don't like that show.

I'm also always surprised when people say they thought the first season of BB sucked or was "slow" -- I loved that season, and that first episode. Can't speak for the Wire obviously but I will say: BB was a great show, but I still think Sopranos was better.

The issue is BB and Wire don't have the re-watch value of the Sopranos. I like all of the above, but to analyze them, I prefer the evolution of Breaking Bad to all 3, I prefer the highs of the Wire, and I prefer the tension cutting with the Sopranos. I'll pass on the thick ideological agenda of the Wire though. I'm sure if you support that agenda, well duh, it's the best thing ever, amirite? That's just how it works.

Put me on a deserted Island for 10 years with a limited amount of shows to re-watch, I would pass on both in all fairness. And no, I wouldn't want Lost..... At least people aren't bringing that over-rated mess up still. Not to say it was bad, it's just not in the GOAT class.
