I bought a 1988 Chevy Celebrity when I was 17 for $1000.

A few years later when I was 20 I bought a newer car and a house. Totaled the former, still have the latter.

Can't wait to buy myself a car, no idea when I'll get to though

One thing you should know about buying a car: with the prevalence of the internet and smartphone apps, the days of negotiating prices are pretty much over. The dealers price the cars to get you in the door. You might be able to get them to come down a little bit more, but that's in terms of hundreds and not thousands of dollars.

Wow, there's some good shit way back in the hills of this forum.

My first big purchase that was totally on my own was a $5000 Matco tool box for work. I've had it for 10 years(holy shit) and its stuffed to the gills with tools

I'm not the biggest 'vette fan in the world so don't mind me. The only vette I would take is a brand new Z06

2011 was a huge year of spending for me -- purchased my first house, leased Danielle a Prius and bought my Tacoma.

It was awesome... 488 gear...4spd..Nickey would buy em in 396 form and swap out the motors. Problem is..I got drafted 6 weeks after I bought it..My dad was sick and couldnt work so I sold the car back to Nickey Chevrolet, and gave the $$$ to my parents..Then I went off to war..I still think about that car

Funny afterthought...In the 90s I ran into a guy at a vintage car show that was one of the mechanics that actually did the engine swap on my car at Nickey..Were still pals today!!

I always wanted a side oiler though!!

Knowing what I know now, muscle cars are the reason I wish I would have lived in the 60's & 70's. There were so many awesome cars and stuff like the Nickey cars, Yenko & COPO. I know there's a Ford equivalent, I just can't think of them now.

The West coast had Yenko, The east coast had Baldwin Motion, and the midwest had Nickey. In Chicago we also had Mister Norm for MOPAR. The Fords were pretty much factory stuff...They had the Shelby Mustang 500, and there were plenty of factory full size racers around that had the 427 side oilers which I always coveted. There was a dealer in Chicago called Bonnie Brook. His son drove a full size ford (post car) with a 427 side oiler in it. It was like a Ford 300 2dr. It was blue, and it was bad-ass! When he started it up, the windows in people houses would rattle. I never got the chance to race him though.
