Let me propose this as if I were the GM - I want whichever coach impresses me with the best plan forward, and I do not know enough about any of the candidates to say something confidently about them. I just see the product on the field as something I want in the end.
This team has last years 1OA QB, several weapons worth passing to, maybe one OLman, maybe three DLmen, several DBs and LBs that are good enough to play but nothing that you cannot move away from.
The first priority is protecting the QB - whatever comes next, significant resources need to be spent to bring in top talent to protect the QB, and backups. Consider backups Priority 1.2. Give me at least five new OLmen this offseason, please.
The second priority is actually going to be reinvesting in the offense. I am pro-Allen, and think a price around 15M a year for two years is reasonable. Three WR sets are common enough that I think that another WR should be brought in. We have three starters and scrubs after that. Kmet is making a lot of money and has not been performing this year - I would look to the draft for someone that offers athletic traits as a receiver, who might need a year of seasoning, and who will push Kmet in the future. Give me two new WR and at least one new TE, please.
The third priority is DL. I have no tie to a 3-4 vs a 4-3. The talent this team has that might not be a scheme fit is Sweat, and I do not mind trading a DE for a draft pick. Either way, pass rush becomes the next priority, as the DBs are a swarm when they are on their game.
In the end, my goal is not to have a competitive defense next year because every penny going to that is going away from the QB that we want to win a trophy. I would like to see the offense regularly cross 30 points and then work on making the defense keep the other team to less than 30.
