It is what it is. You've got 20ish quality posters give or take per sub, some with less, some with more and a bit of overlap.

There are also some really terrible posters per sub, and we all know who those are.

And then countless posters who either are either lurkers or don't express their opinions frequently or strongly enough to rise to the level of being recognized.

I don't know that there is any way to raise the level of discourse beyond lurkers actually commenting on stuff, and through the process of social proof, figuring out who is terrible vs who should be ignored.

I used to post a lot but then became a heavy lurker, mostly because threads with good content and conversation started to die down or would be overrun with people attacking the poster, not the argument. That, and the same conversations would take place every few weeks, and I just got tired of posting the same stuff over and over again. Now I mostly just read stuff when bored.
