I think it would be a good idea and a great benefit to the community if we established a live chat/chat room some how for these forums..

Look in the navigation menu above the forums. "Chatbox"

It's just not on the homepage, because it uses a ton of resources that slows down the forum for people who aren't using the chat, and slow down the chat for people who want to use the chat.

Can we please extend the time duration for the auto site member log-off (where the site auto logs you off for being idle)? I'm not sure how long it's set now, but I know, time and time again, it's much too short. I think an appropriate time would be at least 15 mins.

Some site members just post comments such as, "yes", "go bears!", "Webb sucks"... but other posters are a little more thoughtful, where they check other online references, stats, and the like. The thoughtful posts add obvious value to the site. Because getting auto logged off in 2-3 mins, and then constantly having to carefully copy-paste one's current message, then go to the login page and log in, then go back to the thread and find the post one is replying to and click quote/reply, then copy/paste one's message (hoping the copy/paste worked) and posting. This annoying process negatively motivates posters to stop submitting thoughtful posts. Site is shooting itself in the foot.

Being logged into a sports forum isn't like being logged into a medical records or CIA database. Even in the extreme unlikelihood that a site member goes to the restroom and their child posts a bad word, that's already allowed. There just isn't a justifiable danger there. The current short duration isn't justified. For this type of site, 15 mins would be low, 30 mins avg, and 1 hour to no auto log-off would be long.

I'm lost here. The site doesn't auto-log off anyone. Just to be clear, there is 0 code on the site that uses auto-logoff.

If you're getting auto-logged off, it's your browser settings.

Seriously this is getting old, I don't need to see 7 Jay Cutler Threads on the top half of the "new posts" section. Can we just make one Jay Cutler thread? They're all basically the same. Either someone is ripping on him or someone is defending him.

You are a youth exception mate. Forums don't work like message walls. :nope:

Forums use the concept of a topic, with motions of interest following suit. Walls(like facebook, twitter, ect) are the concept of everyone having their opinion in their own place. People that began their internet experience with the concepts of third generation social networks have developed a bass ackwards habit when it comes to participating on a forum.

Don't stress about it. Because in due time, people recognize the advantages of organization. When some of this mess settles, the mods will merge the hell out of the place, so everything becomes easier to read and follow.
