Agreed. I think PIT has a better situation then the Cubs right now

I disagree. PIT has no pitching at all.

They have some decent pitching prospects, but they are all so so young, that you cannot even begin to count on them for the future of the ball club.

Financials aside I will still take what the Cubs have over the Pirates though Tabata-McCutch-Walker-Alvarez is a pretty good young core.

Can you say Cubs have pitching at all? ERA of the SP is the WORST in baseball and PIT atleast has a nice young lineup. If PIT goes and gets some SP in the next 2 years i really think they could be competiting before the Cubs. Cubs need SP and lineup. PIT atleast has the Lineup and RP

We'll see what kind of own they are this coming off-season.

Maybe but I think the Ricketts are in a no win situation this coming off season. Fans want them to stop signing guys to Soriano type contracts but I think there will be a backlash against them if they don't sign one of Pujols or Fielder.

With 40% of the rotation out. They have been throwing out a 22 year old who can't pitch and a reliever. Now they signed a 63 year old pitcher who was mediocre in his prime.

Cubs are still better off when healthy. No doubt about it.

Signing Fielder wouldn't be nearly as risky.

I'm not as angry about the Soriano contract as some. It is really bad but he was a huge part of the Cubs success early in the contract. We had our window to win then and it didn't happen and now were in a tough spot.

It all would have been worth it had we gotten a WS.

Agree. And It'd be worth it to sign Fielder or Pujols if we won a world series. I'd give Fielder a 7 year contract since he's only 27.

I'd probably do that too... You just have to these days if you want a big producer.

Pretty much. It was a great run while it lasted, but anyone who didn't see this all coming was pretty short sighted.
