I got one of those turn table to CD stereo systems. Yeah its not high fidelity, but I've been listening to some classic vinyl last few days.

I would almost recommend getting one of the USB ones and ripping the whole album. You still get a pretty good phonograph sound with the pops and whatnot (if the MP3 rip has a high enough sampling rate), but you don't wear it out.

My wife got some irreplacable Slovak fairy tales from her childhood on Vinyl. Better to rip them and store the vinyl in an armageddon-proof area then wear out the record. That way when she gets nostalgic about her childhood (like I am now listening to Weird Al's "Nature Trail to Hell"), it would wear away or destroy the vinyl.

All my vinyl has been in the attic for 15 years. It's pretty beat to shit already. No biggie.

I got a new headset a while back so I am discovering/rediscovering some stuff in the 5.1 surround mix.

Porcupine Tree - In Absentia & Deadwing

Steven Wilson - The Raven That Refused To Sing (and other stories) --- best album of 2013.....even over self titled Dream Theater.

But now I'm in the string section of the 23 minute epic in surround.

I may be changing my mind soon.

The Porcupine Tree mixes are really really good.

Almost wish I still ate acid, almost.

Add "Stupid Dream" to the Porcupine Tree stack.

YES!!!

Being a fan of PT since 2003 I don't know how the **** I missed out on "Stupid Dream" and Wilson's "solo" work until last year.

AHHH!!! It is like flying through a storm during an I Mother Earth instrumental section, only better!!!

Oh **** me! Stupid post on my part!

Best metal album, yes.

Best album of 1993 though goes to I Mother Earth - Dig.

How the **** did I forget that?

Now playing Porcupine Tree - Voyage 34

Fucking GREAT song under "many different states of mind".

Great guitar work, sounds almost like Wilson's tribute to Gilmour.
