What's the point of Denard Robinson's tryout w/Bears@rookie minicamp?

WTF? Sure, there's nothing wrong with leaving no stone unturned, but with the additions of Cunningham and Cohen, where's the room for Robinson? I could kinda see this if he had credible NFL qb skills and the Bears were gonna use him like CAR's Joe Webb:QB/WR/ST,but otherwise, what's the point. This may be a moot post because he may not even sign.

the Bears are looking to add speed to the team. He's not here as a QB.

About 3 maybe 4 years ago it was D.Robinson and T.Gerhart splitting touches for Jax and D.Rob played pretty damn good, so good that i thought he would have a legit shot at being the starter the following year or at least would get more touches as a #2 the following year but for whatever reason he didn't get those touches the following year. He's also really good at catching passes out of the backfield. Who knows but maybe with a legit shot he could actually be a really good #2 or #3 RB for us but i just can't see him getting a roster spot over B.Cunningham or T.Cohen, but if we keep 4 RB's i could see him beating out Langford or Carey.

Edit: Just looked it up and it was 2014.
13 games, 135 rushes for 582 yds and 4 TD's for a 4.3 yds avg
23 rec on 31 targets for 124 yds

Actually, that dipshit Attila was thoroughly convinced that Robinson was going to "light up the league" at QB; although it wouldn't surprise me if Run and Shit was on that wagon as well.

God, I hated watching that guy in college. He could barely complete a pass and yet even when a D stacked the front against him, that stupid "Shoelaces" bullshit always managed to rip off huge runs. Then again ND would get obliterated against triple-option offenses too...

Robinson will beat out both Trubisky and Langford for their spots.

Yeah...howard and three scat backs, what could go wrong?

I have a feeling Cobb will beat out Langford, which could work out for us. and pace will make the mistake of keeping Cohen over backs that could contribute.

Define Scatback? That seems like a term that would have been used in the late 90's - 2000. Do you consider Benny a 'scatback'?

5'10, 217 is the ideal all-purpose back size, many hall of famers are 5'10" including our own walter payton. I did think he was smaller, so thank you. That means Langford is gone, and Robinson would be competition with Cohen.

Cobb vs Langford maybe if we keep 4 and want a short yardage specialist.

So you are thinking:

Howard - Starter
Carey - Shortyard/goalline/special teams
Cunningham - Third down/passing down back
Cohen - Swiss army knife

Langford - Odd man out

no, Cobb as short yardage. carey out and langford out

and swiss army knifes refer to a player that can do more than shotgun draws and screen passes.

Yes, I think Cohen will be used in the slot. One of the most impressive things about him is his hands out of the backfield. I think we may actually see him motion out into the slot to get a matchup on a LB or S. Not a fan of Cobb, this guy is a bust, Langford and Carey will make the team before him.
