You think Poles will not draft Williams? I’d be shocked. But I won’t need heart meds. I’m a huge fan of Fields, and I see the logic in going that route also.
I do think Poles sticks with Fields but don't have inside scoop or anything. Based on what he's done and said since coming here
just leads me to believe that. Both he, Warren and even Flus have made enough positive comments to start me leaning that way,
realizing it could be just to increase trade value, but I don't think that's it. Poles is not married to only the guys he has brought in
as evidenced by the Kmet contract and comments about JJ not going anywhere. I believe both top guys value hard work, dedication
and leadership which Fields has in spades. Next is the huge teammate and fan support which they do hear, and it adds to the long term
culture and view. Lastly, I believe he is not rushing the rebuild but definitely wants constant improvement and the best way to do that
is getting a bunch of blue chip players by trading for picks and players like DJ.
I could be 100% wrong but think both Poles & Warren are thinking 3-5 years down the road and there are just too many flags with Caleb.

I thought the Trubisky excuse makers were top notch. But Field's excuse makers are truly master class. LMFAO
As well as the Caleb Cult. Making every excuse in the world for any criticism made.

You could be right. I’m see the logic in that path, also. I just think Caleb’s ceiling is a top 5 QB in the league. If Poles believes that also, he’s picking Caleb at 1.

It really comes down to them getting to know Caleb, if he doesn't blow them away in the interviews he absolutely won't be drafted #1.

He has gone on record for his preferred teams and desire to play for a young coach, he could easily convince the Bears to trade him if he really doesn't want to play here.

Those saying that this is a passing league need to look who is in the Superbowl. Is the league geared more toward passing? These days yes. But it isn't absolutely 100% needed.
both QBs in the superbowl are ~4200yard 30TD QBs so you saying it isnt absolutely needed is not really accurate

I have a feeling a lot of this stuff about him is smoke. Similar to the bs they said about Justin. I don’t think he’ll force a trade or anything. The Bears have a much better roster than teams picking at 1 have historically had.

Correct, and also in a better position than the likely trade candidates this year. A unique situation with a team with the 9th pick that also came on late also having the 1st pick.

There is no smoke screen about his preferred teams: Dolphins, Falcons, Raiders, 49ers

Out of his own mouth he stated he wanted to go to warm weather teams with younger coaches he relates better with.

His camp has threatened to return to school if it's not the right situation. He can definitely convince Poles to trade him where he wants to go.

He said he’d like to play for the Dolphins because of the weather and the jersey colors. And Tyreek Hill. This was in February 2023 I think. Then he said, “San Fran, Raiders, Falcons, I’d play anywhere.”

Emphasis on the last 3 words. You’re reading tea leaves that aren’t there man. He said MIA, who has their starting QB and said he likes the colors.

He didn’t tell 28 teams he didn’t want to play on their teams. Come on. This is getting out of hand.

You could be right of course, but I doubt it's a coincidence that his listed teams just happened to be in warm weather locations. I also didn't make up that his father stated in another interview that Caleb could return to school rather than go to the wrong "situation"

I didn't make up that his "friend" Snoop Dogg suggested Caleb could request a trade rather than go to the Bears, up until he heard the Bears were interviewing Lane Kiffin.

None of us know Caleb but based on available information it's naive to pretend there is no reason to question if he really wants to play here.

The maturity level with Caleb is below sub-basement if he really said 1 of 2 reasons to want Miami was jersey color. Really?

So now that his OC is going to a team he stated he wanted to go to, how long before the smoke alarms get deafening that he wants to be a Raider?

I agree with you. No one knows but him and his family where he wants to play. I’m sure every single prospect has their preferences. Some guy may prefer a dry heat and has family in the SW so he’s rooting for AZ to draft him.

I’m only pointing out that it is also possible for him to want to play in Chicago. This roster is better than most teams who picked 1. He will have a #1 WR and solid TE. Team has a lot of cap space. He may like the McVay concepts Waldron will run. Also, this city is so starved for an elite franchise qb that he would be treated like Michael Jordan if he did become one of the league’s best.

Or not.

Everyone has different preferences. I’m sure Williams has his. But it’s presumptuous to assume he doesn’t want to play for the Bears.

He was probably joking when you consider the context of the conversation.

But for sure, he does appear to have odd quirks. I don’t care about that if he’s a good dude, a good leader and crushes it out on the field.

Yes he is. And anyone else at QB during that time would have been 5-33 at best. Give us Caleb Williams and 10 scrubs....Super Bowl here we come.
Because if they draft a QB they cut everyone?

How does that work?
