I think you guys are going overboard on his lack of production. Again, he may not hit 40 bombs, but lets see how he does when smoke is not coming out of the mouths of players due to 39 degree temps at game time.

Also, he isnt signed long term, and probably wont be back next year, so relax cub fans.

Exactly.

Realistically if he goes on a HR tear for a few weeks..

No one is gonna *****.

And not only that but he is probably 4 HR's from having a nice season. Unless his thumb is really hurt I think he will be just fine.

His LD% is up and BABIP is way down. You 'd think thatd regress but imo he's getting pretty pwn'd by the extreme pull shift.

I am kind of worried about that thumb and I think he is a Soriano/Lee type player that would just try to play through it. I love everything that he has brought to the table so far minus his power. He plays amazing defense, seems to be a great clubhouse guy, and can still take a walk(which is so huge)

If he didn't walk he'd be absolutely brutal right now.... Hes been really bad but take away his good split between BA and OBP and there would be nothing.

But he doesnt :obama:

You obviously missed the context of my statement. :obama:

My point was that when he does get contact he's had some deep shots. He's just had a bit of bad luck on where the ball is falling. With something as simple as the wind direction at Wrigley in 2 or 3 games, we could be having a different conversation. It's not as if every single ball the guy hits is a weak grounder to second. I still have hope he'll start having at least moderate production.

The strikeouts are obviously a problem, but at least he's talking a lot of walks which makes it a bit easier to swallow.

Yes, he did hit under 200. What's your point?

Someone with the name captain obvious should know thats a bad thing...

When you hit under .200. It means you have to get 5 at bats in a game and you statistically will get 1 get.

If your hitting a bomb every other shot while batting .200 maybe its excusable but how long do we let this bum show us he is worthless before we make the change?

It doesnt really matter what stat you want to use, 2010 was probably his worst season.

He is well on his way to 2011 being worse...

The fact you expect an aging player to turn it around and all the sudden be good again is quite ridiculous.

As i mentioned before. He is hitting a decent percentage of line drives and his BABIP is extremely low.

And i never said how good i expect him to be. Before the season I expected him to have a slightly better season than last year and i still do.

It's not a bad thing, necessarily. He walks about 13% of the time, so he gets an extra 130 points for his OBP. This is why BA is stupid. It doesn't take into account walks. A walk is just as good as a hit(kinda).
