Hate to use the power hitter argument since I don't think they are needed anymore but his job is to get hits and drive in runs.

His job is to get hits and drive in runs? Why would we pay a guy with a .200 batting average last year 10 million dollars to "get hits?" Think about that for a minute. And driving in runs isn't his fault, when the whole offense sucks. Driving in runs is a byproduct of where you hit in the line up. If the guys in front of you aren't getting on, you aren't going to have anyone on base to drive in.

Hitting a home run is the absolute version of "driving home runs"

come on.

Why would we pay him to get hits? Because our management believes in the fountain of youth for all players. No matter their age, the top of our lineup has been getting hits, Pena has not been producing.

He is batting .226 with the bases empty and is batting .103 with runners on base, a nice respective .136 with them in scoring position. over 60 percent of his at bats runnings have been on base.

So whats bad about signing a veteran that has had a history of hitting over 30 jacks a year to a one year deal?

I didn't have a problem with the signing when it happened. I have a problem with him not getting hits.

We already knew he wasn't going to blow up the hit counter. For Pena its quality over quantity. The quality just hasn't happened yet. If you were expecting him to get a ton of hits why were you ok with the signing?
