I was curious about the magnetic properties of mercury (the element, not the planet) so I typed in some words which ultimately lead me to this;
The Meissner effect of superconductivity serves as an important paradigm for the generation mechanism of a mass M (i.e. a reciprocal range, where h is Planck constant and c is speed of light) for a gauge field. In fact, this analogy is an abelian example for the Higgs mechanism, through which in high-energy physics the masses of the electroweak gauge particles, W± and Z are generated.
so I'm learning something new, everyday, which is cool.
The overwhelmingly vast majority of you wont get that joke...which is like "irony" reduced to it's solid state.
(and, anybody that got that second joke is somebody I want to know and learn from)
this is just off the top of my head, but do mercury's magnetic properties have anything to do with the liquid having a reverse meniscus?
Sounds like a Duke fan :yep:
