My favorite teams
  1. Portland Timbers
  1. Chicago Blackhawks
Recently?

I'm not trying to use it as an excuse for the Kings necessarily -- I'm just using it as a rationale as to why I'm not exactly giddy from the win. They beat a garbage team that landed at 2 in the morning that day; I'll take it of course, but I won't jump for joy. That's all I'm saying.
^^^This. You gotta love the win but expectations have to be tempered.

IMHO: There's no reason whatsoever to change the lineup for tonight. You go with the same lineup against Nashville. That's your litmus test right there. If the same team looks good against Nashville they're on the right track.

I could see Stan let go, and Crawford named as "interim head coach" until the new GM figures out what he wants to do.
...and get rid of the Swedish Svengali? ;)

I can see them going to Crawford and keeping stan where he is, try to save the season, I guess we see where the team is when Dach is at his 9 and what they do with him. He is definitely not one of the worst players on the ice, and I think there are more times where he looks like he belongs. I think it was finally a good decision to split Dach from Strome, cant play with a guy that pushed you off of your job in a year you are looking to get paid, but really cannot keep Cat, Carp and Strome as your fourth line can you?

They should learn from it that Cat/Strome need a physical fighter on their side. Thats why Perlini worked with them. Thats why Carp works. Why Smith might even work with Strome at Center and Smith on his right. Why maybe Toews should be tried centering them.

Cat-Toews-Strome
Kubalik/Saad/Nylander-Dach-Kane
Saad/Shaw-Kampf-Kubalik/Shaw/Nylander
Jewels/Shaw-Carp-Smith/Shaw

Is probably where my head is.

As for Colliton I was a bit harsh in turning up the pressure...to be fair his changes have cut down opponent goals at the same time while nerfing ours, but the Hawks can't really be stopped forever. Too much offensive skill but I worry we aren't getting enough quality shots. Quality being the key element missing in shots for many years here.

I've been hoping for a top line of Cat - Toews - Strome since before the season started.
With the second line of Saad - Shaw/Dach - Kane = good mix of skill and grit/work rate of both of those
Third line should be Caggiula - Smith - Kubalik
Kampf - Carpenter - Nylander being the fourth

The one big thing is that the two main leaders Toews & Kane need to grow some balls and go to Wirtz and tell hime how they feel and what changes need to be made. They need to tell Wirtz why they are not and refuse to give their all each game. It is obvious that both Toews and Kane are really upset about something - whether it is the system, coach or management.

Puterwiz, I agree. For the past few years, Captain Toews has been let down by his useless teammates time and time again. It’s time he marches up to Rocky’s office and read them the riot act.

So....we had to get rid of Coach Q for....THIS GUY Jeremy Colliton? Whatever. Blackhawks might very well be the worst team in the NHL....but how does this happen? They have Kane...Toews.....Crawford....DeBrincat, Saad, Keith,....even some young guys who have promise...but somehow they are this unthinkably bad. They look like they aren't even in the same universe as Nashville. 51 shots to 20 tonight. Are you kidding me? If Crawford were playing this could easily have been a 10-0 game...and i'm not even joking. 3 cups in 6 years was awesome....but this team now has become so bad it's beyond embarrassing. The dynamic duo of Kane and Toews is a long gone memory. Toews has 2 friggin points the entire season. Crawford is done. He should of just retired with those concussions. Strome missed a wide open net tonight for crying out loud. These guys would have trouble scoring if their wasn't a goalie at the other end....Not only has this "team" not won a playoff series....they haven't won a single playoff GAME in 4 years. This has gotten out of control bad.

I have to make a correction. The last playoff SERIES the Blackhawks won was June 15th 2015. It has been well over 4 years since the Hawks have won a playoff series. OVER FOUR YEARS!!!

But is Crawford just being a good soldier with ideas on how to fix this but staying quiet so he can implement the changes if he were to take over?

Colliton has had enough time to have at least shown that the team is improving, sad facts are we are no better than at the point he was appointed as Q's successor infact we are even worse.

Both Colliton and Bowman should step down or be removed from their positions with immediate effect as its not just the poor results that concern me but the manner in which they are coming. I really do not see where any improvement is going to come from if at all.

Think that it is is becoming clearer than before that 'Q' was made the scapegoat by Bowman for his own failures and 'Q' most probably told him he was failing as a GM.

We are in a huge hole and just can not see any other way out than to get rid of both Colliton and Bowman now and promote Crawford to HC as an interim measure.

51 shots to 20 is not the players. Thats a systemic issue. Lines wouldn't matter its what they are being asked to do is defensible.

He is a young coach and I am willing to watch him go through this if he can react well. Handle himself in this darkness, and get it fixed quick!! Our goalies are playing great but they can't turn around a 2:1 shot disadvantage every night.

The quality chances Hawks get are pathetic.

Meanwhile a 35 year old coach is trying to prod 3 time champions to keep on a path they know is fucked, and is fucking their bodies for no chance. Thats why Kane and Toews are disinterested and Seabrook is sitting down.

The quite Warrior Keith continues his business but JC is about to get fired if we can't even compete with a max cap roster.

I
Figure this deserves a thread of its own, but when exactly is it going to be time to pull the plug on this coach?

This team certainly does not seem to be responding to anything he wants to do, no fire (sustained) and all Bowman seems to be doing is trying to get all his mistakes back on this team. Sure, shaw brings alot of energy, but you did not want him before, same with saad, second Krueger stint here ( who, if anyone wondered is getting 2 million us dollars to be on ZSC for the national league in switzerland Lions

This was the one thing the Bowmans were not allowed to do, and now that they have, can it be their time as well?

We all agree, nobody will take Seabroke, Keith, Toews, Kane is the only one someone probably wants, Crow is on his swan song, seems like this is definitely not the right voice after Q.
agree

Dach has been told by Stan and Jeremy he will stay all season vs. being sent back.

Hope this works out for all involved. I remember how uncomfortable and out-of-place Draisaitl looked before the Oilers finally sent him back to his Junior team for a little more seasoning. The next year was day vs. night for Leon.

So best of Good Fortune to Kirby and Chicago going forward. As far as this thread goes: Biggest issue I have w/ Colliton is line-up changes during games (changing lines that seem to be working just to "spread the wealth" or whatever) but a lot of that's down to the team that's been assembled (or chiseled away, so to speak.) Murphy out doesn't help.

John McDonough worked for a few years with the Chicago Sting soccer club, then 20 odd years for the Cubs. He doesn't know a lick about running an NHL team. He joined the org at a time when it was on the cusp of becoming a turn-key Cup machine. All he had to do was market it properly, which he is excellent at and did very well. Now that it has come to having to actually man the helm in a storm, I'm not sure he has the foggiest clue on how to move forward, and IMO, change needs to begin at that level. Bowman, Blunk, MacIver et al are his employees...
The Grinch is a problem, hopefully Rocky will step in and appoint a credible hockey mind to find a viable candidate to run hockey operations. I really hope Rocky knows this and will act on it. And please not Bob Pulford...

It's must be pretty awkward in the Seabs household, with Dach living there and Seabs being benched. Interesting dinner conversations about the team I'd bet.

I am sure Dach made that decision thinking he only had 9 games. I highly doubt its like he has to share a bathroom, but now that he is supposed to stay here, I am sure he will find his own place, probably move his parents in.
