I don't know if you are being sarcastic or not.

Point is forum Mods should not be openly or privately discussing banned members or the reasons they were banned. If you visit a lot of forums you realize that this is a policy. If you are an adult you should know it's bad form

Why shouldn't they openly and privately discuss it? I don't frequent a lot of other forums, so I don't know what is and isn't taboo for a mod...but from what I gather here the mods aren't a behind the scenes entity. They post on here like the rest of us and if someone were to ask why another poster was banned I don't see a problem in them answering that question. I'm not on here all day everyday so I don't know why posters get banned, so if someone gets banned for a reason I didn't know would get me banned then I would like to know. I still don't know why BB has been banned and not only out of my own personal curiosity but to know what to avoid, I would like to know the reason he was given time off from the forums.

Like with your ban, I didn't know excessively starting off topic threads would bring down the ban hammer. But after you were banned and it was made known as to why you were banned I now know not to do the same unless I want to get banned.

Another life lesson for you: The fact that I desire something, doesn't make it reality. I live in reality and have to accommodate that fact.

Also, don't be such a grumpy old man.
Try making sense. Makes it's easier for people to understand you

I'll spell it out:

My Desire = Transparency as to who is banned, why, and for how long.
Reality = No Transparency.
My Accommodation = treating people nicely, namely the mods.

So, let's put it together: My desire that the forum be transparent with bans is not the reality because the forum isn't transparent. So, I treat the mods nicely, and they end up feeling more inclined to tell me.

Get it? I can probably draw the picture later on if illustrations would help

Because they have a position of authority, thus they have the reposnsibility to keep certain things like discipline private. It's a real world, adult concept. Just like a business manager should keep certain aspects of employee discipline private.

I still don't know why BB was banned.

I think that is more shady than mods openly talking about bans. If he did something against the rules to get himself banned then I am happy to get a break from him and feel his ban should be served to the fullest. But if the mods are avoiding letting the forum know (especially when many have asked why) then it makes me think it may have been more personal than rule breaking. If that is the reason then as much as I butt heads with BB I think he needs to be unbanned.

Pretty sure it was because it was because some of his stuff he was warned about got reported.

Do you feel mods shouldn't be allowed to post on the forums too?

Seems a bit drastic, doesn't it? On a side note, did you go somewhere that actually taught you logic? Aside from Philosophy courses, I was unaware that there was a class called "Logic." Must be taught where ever that short yellow bus goes.

I'm sure that was the reason, but we have heard a few mods say they weren't the ones to ban him and they either didn't know why or said they would let the one who banned him speak up. I'm fine with that, just my curiosity will always have me asking.

I love the fact the Mods participate here. But you can participate without sharing stuff that is not intended for public consumption. This is a simple concept folks and understood on every other forum I have ever visited

I've also read a mod state that when a post is reported, they discuss these things internally, so I'm not sure how they couldn't know. I'm sure they know.

He'll be back and more bud than ever. I'm sure he will give u an explanation then. And then argue about it, and then pm you, and then report you.

But you haven't explained the concept. You've only stated that it's always done this way therefore this way is ethical and the procedures used here are unethical. Why is it ethical, or unethical, to inform the community that someone is going to be banned, the length of their ban, and the reasons for said ban?

The U.S. Justice System seems to believe that everyone in the U.S. is entitled to this information (regarding crimes not posts on the message board). I would argue it's completely unethical to punish someone without giving everyone notice, as it relates to the rules that must be followed and the sentence that breaking the rules carries with it.
