My favorite teams
  1. Chicago Bears
If I can be serious for a minute, I can't say a bears move ever broke me. I've been paying attention to them since the Wanny years and if I can suffer through that I can make it through anything.

I will say though when the Cubs lost the championship series to the Marlins with Dusty Baker at the helm, that broke my baseball fandom.

Even when the Cubs won it I wasn't as passionate as I was during that season. still grateful because my dad got to see the Cubs winning a world series which is what I really wanted.

You know, as much as we all bitch about how snake bit we are, I can honest to God say being in Chicago during this time period I've lived has been a hell of a sports run.

Saw the 85 Bears as a child (didn't care about sports then but I was in front of the TV for Super Bowl 20 and cherish that memory now) had the bulls win six in the 90s and share that experience with my dad, the White Sox won in my lifetime even though I'm not a fan of theirs the Blackhawks had a dynasty, the Bears made it back to the Super Bowl, and the Cubs won the world series.

I've lived to see every single team in this city win a championship, and two sports dynasties.

That's actually kind of badass...

The answer is Mitch. Devastating when you think about it. I don’t blame Mitch at all, not his fault he was drafted two rounds early. Hope Mitch can find a home and have some success.

fuck pace. The amount of shit I will get for the rest of my life for the bears passing on Watson/mahomes + a decades worth of playoff teams ??

Losing the Halas Trophy at Solider Field to the Green Bay Packers in front of the entire ****ing world.

That was the only punch I could not roll with.

This one got me too. That team owns the Bears and that game was soul crushing.

Bears fans are going to be begging for Grossman/Orton after the coming camp battle between Foles and Andy Dalton.

You are probably right- but this time around it will just be funny.

We laugh and pick on dalton...rightfully so... but at least he has 2 seasons of over 4k yards. That is 2 more than any bear has ever had.

The quarterback drought was almost semi-tolerable 10-20 years ago when running backs and defenses existed.

But now- watching bears games compared to other functional teams is like watching 2 different sports.

Drew Brees is a topic with his apparent retirement. in case you didn't notice he had multiple 5000+ yard/40+ TD seasons, he didn't make it to the Super Bowl in any of them. you can cite multiple top flight quarterback talents, they didn't win Super Bowls either. Tom Brady has pulled down the most titles of anyone, he was never flashy in the stats columns, he just played disciplined and really all you need to do at the position is just not lose games.

I'm not saying you need to run the ball 35 times a game or go 4000% meatball on defense, I'm just saying there's more positions than just that one that gets you there and wins you the Lombardi trophy. Patrick Mahomes was anointed as the greatest ever (you can see it in multiple threads here over the years) and he literally lucked into the 49ers running out of steam to win it all. and become celebrated with the most expensive contract ever.

this is entirely my point why it's completely batshit and total nonsense to trade 12 picks to get another team's quarterback.
So......pretty much the point you are going to go with here is that QB play doesn't win Super Bowls?

And Tom Brady is a game manager?

The fact that the Bears have never had a 4K passer - while embarrassing - does NOT make signing 50 year old Andy Dalton a good move just because he had two.

Dalton, on his best day, was not great. And he is terrible under pressure. The guy has been in the league 100 years and has never won a playoff game. He's not going to start now.

Trading a 1st rounder for Rick fucking Mirer
Trading a 2nd rounder for Gaines Adams
Re-signing that bum Jay Cutler for $54 million dollars guaranteed for three years
Signing the Giraffe as a "bridge starter" QB
Trading up for Trubisky

These days, it's very difficult to give a shit about them from a personal standpoint until the McCaskeys no longer own the franchise.
I actually had no real problem with the three in the middle. Unfair to judge Gaines Adams. No choice but to extend Cutler. Glennon as insurance was no big deal, though everyone here acts liek it meant Pace thought he was Brady.

But Mirer and that trade up....OUCH.

RICK MIRER
Im glad I was away from football for that. I don't remember it. It's really the worst trade Ive ever seen considering how horrible this guy was in Seattle.

Yes, the 1985 Bears winning the SB was enough to last a lifetime.

yes. Tom Brady, the once in 5 lifetimes talent, is a game manager. he was entirely a byproduct of Bill Belichick and Josh McDaniels, that's why he went to a Buccaneers team that has been a joke for a very long time and won a Super Bowl with them and their defense that obliterated the "greatest quarterback ever" Patrick Mahomes. yes, that was entirely my point. not that throwing for 5000 yards or 40+ touchdowns in a season and not winning a Super Bowl means anything.

Matt Stafford threw for 5000 yards. he hasn't even won a playoff game.

congratulations for missing the point just like everyone else.

Trading Olsen because our genius OC couldn't figure out how to use an athletic TE really pissed me off.

The Dan Bazuin pick caused me to short circuit too.
