Yeah, I'd move Rasmus to right, let V-Mart catch, tell Quentin to learn to DH or **** off (DFA, release, whatever, then insert Viciedo at the DH spot), V-Mart catches and Dunn plays first, with Teahen either spelling Dunn at 1B and having Morel fill in at 3B or, if Morel impresses, give Morel the starting job at 3B, then use Teahen as a super-utility. There are other variations that would work as well, and this has the added advantage of shutting Ozzie (and the idiot fans) the **** up about "flexibility" but this time doing it with players that might be kinda good at baseball.

So true, so fucking true.

I forgot what show on 670 this was, but last week they were talking about what KW said on the club "we like to get guys off of a down year that have something to prove" <<<something like that.........I got an idea....how about we get guys that are established GOOD fucking baseball players.

I think KW should of pull the trade for Stanton. He's only 20 with lots of power. Also, he will get better as he was a top player in the minors. 2010 did not show it, but he will improve his stats. I can guarantee it. I bring this up in this thread because this would shut-up about the talk of Rasmus to Chicago. I'm not directing this post to be mean to anyone....FYI.

Rasmus wasn't benched last year because "he sucked". Combination of a nagging hamstring injury and Tony La Russa's infatuation of platooning outfielders not named Holliday was why he was "benched". Tony has always done that. You have 1 star outfielder, and you platoon the rest of them. Edmonds used to be the star, and he platooned the rest of the guys. Now it's Holliday, and platoons the rest of the guys. He's always had an infatuation of starting bench players OFTEN to keep them fresh all season. Which is stupid because Randy Winn is probably older than La Russa.

And for waldo saying "he was benched at the end of the season"- EVERYBODY was benched at the end of the season. He even held Pujols and Holliday out of the lineup. We beat the Marlins one game with 8 of 9 starters playing at AAA Memphis or AA Springfield at some point last season. The season was over, he gave playing time to the guys that were up and down from the minors all year to see what they could do at the big league level. The already knew what they had in Rasmus, no need to risk more injury to his hamstring by trotting him out there. Cardinal fans would rather give up La Russa instead of Rasmus. Rasmus has a bright future. Just takes some maturing on his part.

Though I will say this, Rasmus' career to this point is eerily similar to that of JD Drew. And that's not a good thing.

seriously, what fucking planet are you on? this is a legit rumor, which has nothing to do with ozzie and stanton trade so why try to get the thread going in a different direction....ok now, move along little fella.

Maybe it showed a little. He has the power and that showed. I knew that. I would like to see a full year under his belt. I expect big things for this guy. He will be a good player for a long time. That's all I'm saying. Dumb ass!

Colby Rasmus for Carlos Quentin???????

This has been talked about since the end of the season. However, the WS will have to add another player or two. Depending on who else they have to add, this would be an awesome trade and should be a trade to be made. Teahen and Quentin for Rasmus? Won't happen, but wouldn't WS fans like to get Teahen's contract off the books? Just wondering.

The White Sox would trade outfielder Carlos Quentin for outfielder Colby Rasmus of St. Louis, according to a source.

"It was obvious that [the Cardinals] were paying extra attention to Quentin at the end of the season, so this might have been something that was already talked about," a scout said.

AND

10:27am: Joe Strauss of The St. Louis Post-Dispatch tweets that the Quentin-for-Rasmus stuff has been percolating since the end of the season. One Cardinals front office type told him "Gotta do better than that."

8:38am: Kenny Williams is certainly no stranger to blockbuster trades, and a source tells Joe Cowley of The Chicago Sun-Times that the White Sox general manager has targeted Cardinals outfielder Colby Rasmus. Williams is said to be willing to part with Carlos Quentin in a package to acquire the young center fielder.

"It was obvious that [the Cardinals] were paying extra attention to Quentin at the end of the season, so this might have been something that was already talked about,'' says Cowley's source.

The 24-year-old Rasmus reportedly demanded a trade earlier this summer after which his rift with manager Tony LaRussa was made public, though he later denied that claim. GM John Mozeliak has said repeatedly that he will not trade his youngest regular, but you have to assume that he'd at least listen to any offers made. Rasmus hit .276/.361/.498 with 23 homers in 534 plate appearances this year, and UZR likes his defense: +2.6 over the last two seasons.

Quentin, 28, hit .243/.342/.479 in 527 plate appearances this year, though he missed a big chunk of the 2009 season with plantar fasciitis and is an awful defensive player (-40.6 UZR over the last three years). The salaries don't line up here, which would be one hurdle if the two clubs do pursue a deal. Rasmus is still a year away from arbitration eligibility (four years from free agency) while Quentin earned $3.2MM in 2010, his first year of arb eligibility (two years from free agency).

If Williams makes a run at Rasmus, he's going to have plenty of competition. Earlier this month we heard that several teams, including the Braves, Blue Jays, and Diamondbacks have interest in acquiring Alabama's high school single season homerun record holder. Ben Nicholson-Smith recently put together a list of potential trade destinations for Rasmus, though more than 57% of ***** readers would not trade him based on last month's poll.

No BS! You have said a million times....the Cubs are not getting Dunn because they have no money. We are talking about that because of numerous rumors thast Dunn will come to Chicago. So, that is a legit rumor.

It worked with the Lebron stuff when it happened with World Wide Wes saying he was coming to Chicago, etc.

That's exactly why it won't happen, dew. KW tends to bluster when it seems like a move is a no-brainer.

yes, common sense sometimes lacks with KW. The rios move I believe was just a block on Detroit and he got stuck, and peavy....at the time seemed ok. but those are guys that have high price tags. this one seems to be one of those steal moves, and if stl is really looking to trade rasmus for a "intense" bad outfielder who likes the dl, you have to do it this instant. It almost seems to good to be true though. im curious to know what the structure of the deal would be or has been discussed.

Ehh, maybe. Lets not forget that since the departure of Aaron firebelly Rowand, and Ozzie ruining Anderson, KW has seemingly been on the prowl for a "true" CF. Erstad, Swisher, Wise!, Alexei (played CF opening day 2008), and such.

I, for one, was glad when we claimed and received Rios.
