but with the team going nowhere and the players knowing that who cares if they play half ass? i mean sure there is no lock in the draft but if we arent going anywhere id prefer to have atleast a better shot at young talent. hell get another top pitcher and stock up

You don't not try...but you give the young guys playing time at the MLB level to see what you've got and take your foot off the gas by cutting the starting pitchers' innings...and lose additional games in the process.

Not only is it possible, it's probably likely. Beckham figures to earn north of $5 million in his final year of arbitration, and the White Sox have cheaper and likely better alternatives at second base in Marcus Semien, Carlos Sanchez and Micah Johnson. Beckham is sporting a career-low .606 OPS this season and is a career .244/.307/.375 hitter. The White Sox figure to make one last effort to trade him this winter, but it seems likely that they'll just wind up cutting him loose.
