I’ve mentioned in a few threads what really separates the “genius” Ben Johnson and Monken? His offenses have been fantastic the last two years.

Look at how Georgia has fallen off since he left.

I’m not knocking Ben either but sometimes the media just doesn’t quit with a narrative.

I actually prefer him to ben johnson.

Without really knowing the personality of many of these OCs, he'd be a very solid choice imo. Strong improvement everywhere he's been.

I dont know Monken's personality, but his whole family is full of coaches. His father coached highschool football for 30 years. He also was a head coach in college for a few years.

Ben Johnson is the one you have no idea if he can lead a locker room and change a culture, particularly because he has the best motivator in Dan Campbell to work under.

why am I sure if the bears sign Johnson, 99% of CCS will be 100% on board with that media narrative

so you're bragging about Monken learning under a family of coaches, while downplaying Johnson learning under Campbell, got it

Not only would I be fine with it, I may prefer it over Johnson. I’ve never heard anything but good things from those close to UGA’s program. His play calling is top-flight. What is there not to like about him as a potential HC?

George will definitely be fine with the probable 50% savings in salary.

Does he come with Derrick Henry? To be fair, he significantly improved TBs passing game when there and now is again using the the strengths of the team to win. Not a square hole round peg guy.

By the same token, it seems all anyone talks about is BJ as a passing game coordinator while the Lions run game has also been pretty great.

Monken has a good and long resume. He would be my 2nd choice over Vrabel. Vrabel can build a staff and already has HC experience. I’m curios who is Vrabels OC?

Also Vrabel was right about Carthon, especially when he traded AJ Brown. Titans are having difficulty replacing him.

Unless they hire is some random dude that is far outside of most top 5-6 coach option lists, I'll be ok. I have preferences, but we can't even know if these guys have the makeup to be a HC without direct access. And even with that, you can never know how a guy will take on the challenges of this specific situation. So, as long as there's enough good reason to select a guy, I will focus on that rather than the negatives.

If I were a candidate I might tell the Bears to call me if I'm top 5.
