Alex smith from a physical standpoint. Size, athleticism and arm.

Watson plays the game differently though. He isn't afraid to sling it around and take shots.

Tyrod Taylor. Deshaun isn't a power rusher, more of a finesse in space type of runner. Both soft throwers. Similar ball velocity, Taylor at 50mph and Watson at 49 mph. Similar build. Watson is 6'2, 220 and Taylor was 6'1 217.

Watson is more of a guy that tucks and runs, rather than scrambles with his eyes down the field. Watson is the more accurate thrower, although Tyrod has made alot of improvements from college.

Leadership wise I would put him at Tebow level.

The Vick comparison isn't very fair. Vick is twice the rusher that Watson is and Watson is twice the passer that Vick was.

Where are you getting Marino and Vick? Marino was a near perfect pocket passer and Watson has nothing like the rocket Vick had. Vick's arm was like Mahomes'.

I would say half Montana (the intangibles and ice cool clutch factor) and half Dak.

Uhh, every scout worth reading.

A similar offense doesn't = a similar player. I don't think they'll be anything like each other in the NFL.

Bucky Brooks thinks so.

Why don't you guys like the Alex smith comparison? they are about the same size, they ran about the same 40, Alex is more careful with the ball but if Watson learn to make better decisions he could Play at Alex's level

Smith was a better prospect. Taller with more arm. Closer to Mariota.

Smith had no touch, still doesn't. He throws everything on a line. And he takes no chances downfield.

Yeah, I see Watson as a far more attack-minded pro than Smith has become.

Agree with this but you can see the physical comparison between Smith and Watson though? I think it's pretty close.

Watson is more of a gamer like you said though and will go after you.

Physically yeah. To be honest I wasn't even thinking about physical attributes in this thread, I tend to think of these questions to be more about the way they play the game and what kind of pros I see them as.

Leadership wise I would put him at Tebow level.

Leadership-wise, Tebow is in a league of his own. That is no knock on Watson, he is a fine leader too, but that is an arena in which Tebow has no contemporary peer.

Why do you say that?

Agreed but was a better prospect. I think Watson will become the better player. Smith is not dumb (40 wonderlic) and he's not lazy yet his development was disappointing.
