Who is the edge rusher in 2014, who generates the pass rush?

Screw it, I'll go out on a limb & with the most annoying of positive outcomes & guess that the Panthers will let Gregg Hardy test the waters of free agency.

Here's my question, if the Panthers were to franchise & offer up a trade with Hardy would you bite? He's only 25, 6'4"/290lbs., has played all four positions on the defensive line successfully especially RDE & 3-Tech, & just so happens to have the perfect measurable to play RDE, or the 3-Tech UT position in a 4-3. If the Bears were looking for a pass rusher anyway, would you do it, at least strongly consider it?

He's the same age as Kyle Long so hell yeah I'd do that trade.

For the cost of our first round pick only I'd do it in a heartbeat. The draft:

Pick 1) DE/DT - Gregg Hardy - Trade first rounder to the Panthers.

Pick 2) DT - DaQuan Jones

Pick 3) DE - Kareem Martin

Pick 4) SS - Craig Loston

Pick 5) C - Tyler Lawson

Pick 6) DT - Calvin Barnett

Pick 6) WR - Tevin Reese

Free Agency:

FS - Jarius Byrd - He would be the one premier FA for the Bears this offseason, I do think if the Bears do part ways with Peppers, Weems, Hester, Wright Tillman they should be able to come up with the cap space for 1 top tier FA, & a high second tier like Munnerlynn.

CB - Captain Munnerlynn - IMO would be a solid signing as a FA CB that will get paid well, but shouldn't break the bank. This would give the Bears:

Base CB's:

Jennings

Munnerlynn

Nickel CB's:

Jennings

Munnerlynn

Frey

With Bowman & McManis as reserves & STers.

I have a feeling we'll have to gut it out with one of the two Safeties from last season who in spite of being bad in 2013, have proven they can be decent as long as the front 7 in front of them isn't weak.

There are exactly two 3-4 NFL ready OLBs in this upcoming draft, and I'd argue there's truly only one Khalil Mack and Anthony Barr. Mack is far and away the better player where as Barr needs a ton of refinement before he's ready to become more than just a one trick pony pass rusher.

The depth at DE in free agency and the draft is clear, the depth at DT in the draft is clear.
@msadows Here is where I was right on Khalil Mack

Completely unremarkable. Pick a 5th round or later guy that makes and impact and get back to me. Show me a Purdy or Mooney prediction and I may be impressed. My guy this year is Crosby-Merritt.

Congratz, you were right on one top 5 pick.
Okay now things seem to be making some sense why you were going and bringing back all these threads that the OP was horribly wrong in.

Daniel used to be BearsFan51??

Momma always said i was sharp as a tack.:homerbush:

To be fair i didnt know this either until like 1.5 years ago, then it all started to make sense why he got so much shit on here

The weird thing is he went from the biggest meatball on the board since he's posted on here and the official CBMB, for like 2 decades, and now all of a suddent when we have what could be a real legit qb/coach combo he wants to be a doomer.

If there was ever a time to be optimistic about the bears future its now

To be fair this was a take from January 23rd, so by the time the combine and then draft rolled around many opinions had changed. Including mine. I hadn't put much time into watching Pitt football in January but by February I was in full Aaron Donald hype mode....

Pre combine post in February

Mock Offseason in March with Donald #14 for Bears
It doesn't matter if you right or wrong. All that matters is that you have fun sharing an opinion on your favorite players.
