There are 2 ways of winning.

The first is: Play great defense and don´t let the opponent score as many points as you.

and the second is: Score more points than your opponent!

LOL!

But didn´t someone say great offense beats great defense every time?

I´m all for trading Boozer for Monta. That guy can score 30 every game!
Offense wins games.

Defense win Championships.

That is not written in stone yet bro....Bulls can still get him...

The Bulls couldn't afford him unless he decided to sign for the minimum. And he will not decide to do that.

Now the guy is going to China. It's over. Find a new player to overvalue.

There is always a way to make room as far as saleries go...Trade away Bogans and bench players we don't need for draft picks or sell contracts to another team.....

and J.R. Smith is not overrated. He is talented but his talent is potential only at the moment. Chicago team needs athletic 2nd guard with ability to shoot and defense. So if J.R. will stay in USA they need to sign them. Or trade Boozer somewhere and sign Nene. This is alternate decision.

Why do you guys keep using DEFENSE as an excuse to NOT get Ellis?

The man is the BEST defender on his team!

He is an excellent defender.

Be REAL! The reason you don't want him has nothing to do with Defense. You just Don't Want him!
That's cool too.

But lets not lie to yourselves. Unless of course you just aren't all that familiar with his game. In that case I'm here to tell you that I am and that he is a good defender.

I'm not saying I would to trade Boozer for him, but if we could get him for a bargain then I say Go for it!

First of all, I'd trade Boozer for Ellis in a heart beat. But it will never happen in a million years because no team wants a starting front-court of Boozer and David Lee for a combined $32,000,000 salary.

Second of all, Ellis is one of the most overrated defenders in the league. He can't guard regular sized shooting guards because he's too small.

Third, being the best defensive player on the Warriors is nothing to brag about. And that claim is wrong anyway because Andris Biedrins and Stephen Curry are both better.

First of all, Ellis is NOT over rated as a defender. You all (people in general) all make pretty much the same statements about his size. Even making excuses for his stats, saying his steals per game cum easy cus he's so small or that his stats are just stats and don't represent his defense with is incorrect.

Biedrins is the one that's Overrated on that team. Overrated and Overpaid all because he had One good season. Lee is also a tad overrated and over paid. they basically have two of the same player with Lee being slightly better.

You're contradictiong yourself by saying you'd trade for him in a heart beat but then turn around and say he's too small and overrated.

If that's the case then why want him on our team at all?

There's probably about 30-40 guys at the SG position alone that are better defenders than Monta Ellis. Stealing the ball is nice but that doesn't make you a lock-down defender. Ellis does that by gambling a lot and jumping in passing lanes.

And just because he's overrated doesn't mean he wouldn't make a great addition to the team. He's a hell of a lot better than a guy like J.R. Smith because he can actually move the basketball around and slash to the rim.

Boozer is killing the Bulls' title hopes with his massive contract. The team already has a guy like Taj Gibson who would be a great full-time replacement.

PF- Gibson
SG- Ellis, Korver/Bogans

>

PF- Boozer, Gibson
SG- Korver/Bogans

That's why I'd do the trade.

And you were the guy who said Ellis was the best defender on his team. He's not better than Biedrins is and I wouldn't say Curry either.

Because it's valid

The man is the BEST defender on his team!
Considering that he plays for GS where they play no defense, that's not saying much.

He is an excellent defender.

Be REAL! The reason you don't want him has nothing to do with Defense. You just Don't Want him!

I like Ellis, but I don't want him here because he's undersized and we need a big 2 guard.

just because he's an inadequate defender doesnt make a valuable commodity, or atleast more valuable than boozer(i think thats arguable but monta is younger less injury and would fill a nice void)

and i love how people cite steals as an example of good defense...are steals a defensive stat? yes...does that mean the defensive player is forcing turnovers? yes thats a part of d because you are taking away possessions for the offense...

HOWEVER

that doesnt mean the defender can stay in front on his man and lock down scoring...you can have 5 steals because you anticipate well and get into the passing lanes but get burnt because of his height and what not..and thats basically the situation with ellis

ellis is not a terrible defender(certainly hasnt shown he's good one either) imo, i think part of the issue is he plays in a system that emphasizes transition offense..high speed..monta gets alot of his points from being able to penetrate streaking down the court...i wouldnt say he's been exposed to a defensive system like thibs

An Ellis/Rose backcourt is very intriguing. I like Ellis, I think he is a legit 20ppg guy, not just a system scorer. I don't know about him playing defense at a high level though. The Bulls need a playmaker, someone who can score off the dribble, create his own shot when nothing else is there. Ellis can definitely do that. I don't think the Bulls go in that direction...I would rather them trade for Kevin Martin personally.
