that's how it came out...considering that was pretty much MY point...and you argued against it..so i had good reason to think you meant thatI wasn't trying to say that Dr. J is "better" than LeBron, if it was misconstrued that way, I apologize.
no one has said or implied this....But if anyone is trying to make sure argument that Dr. J is some vastly inferior player to LeBron is just stupid. That's a flawed, ignorant argument.
more or less validates my point about the ABA vs. the NBADid his numbers dip when he went to the NBA? Sure, but so did EVERYONE ELSE'S, INCLUDING OTHER PLAYERS WHO'RE IN THE HALL OF FAME.
ok? no one said the dude sucks..jesusThe guy still fucking averaged 22 points, nearly 7 rebounds, 4 assists, 2 steals and 2 blocks a game, all while shooting 50% from the floor.
Those numbers are pretty close to another NBA player we've been debating about.... hmmm. Oh, that's right, LeBron James's numbers. So please, quit act like some of us are comparing LeBron to fucking Pete Chillcutt or Matt Fish. It's ridiculous.
lebron james averages around 28 PPG,7 RPG, 7 APG
you're making the pretty close thing subjective..anywho the base stats matter but it's more than that...
i mean hell vince carter and bernard king have relatively comparable stats to julius erving...are either of them close to Dr. J's level? absolutely not
From the context of impact on the game, his (Dr. J's) contributions have had a long-lasting impact. As great as LeBron's series was against the Pistons, how many people still talk about it?
how many people still talk about tim duncan's titles? i could pull up alot of other examples...just because people dont "talk about it" doesnt mean it isnt important or impressive...
i've already explained that lebron definitely has an impact on this game..lebron has already established himself as one of the premier players of this era...
i would say Dr. J's impact came alot from innovation more than sheer greatness like jordan(though dr. j did have his "great" moments like any great player has)
Not many. I agree with you 100% that it was an awe-inspiring stretch of games that truly cemented him as a leader and even greater player. He absolutely dominated those guys to the point that the opposition should've been embarrassed. The problem is, he still hasn't taken the next step -- that series was almost 5 years ago. He still has no post game, he still doesn't move seamlessly without the ball and oh yeah, he still doesn't have any NBA Championship.
the bolded i necessarily dont disagree with...thats the issue here...though i think lebron has finally come to realize that he needs to work on those to take that next level..and its partly mentality too....intangibles and athleticism are simply not enough
lebron is probably the most gifted player i have ever seen in this game..he's lived up to alot of his hype..the scary thing is he could be a bit better than he is right now
i agree on this as wellI think because of the weight of expectations placed on him at such a young age, his failures have been magnified quite a bit more.
I don't think you'll find too many people who'd argue LeBron is one of the best (if not best) player in the NBA right now. The problem is don't proclaim yourself to be King James when you're merely the Prince of the team you went to because you didn't have the balls to be a true leader and win a ring as an alpha male.
julius erving had moses malone on that philly team
just sayin
i think this is starting to get redundant since you're not really contradicting my argument
which was that lebron has already surpassed erving..meaning he's better than him...
